thats bad news - havent seen anything in the media yet. silly season has officially begun, its time to be more proactive in avoiding pedestrians and giving advice to newbs who look like theyre about to screw up..

on a similar note, i saw some interesting drags in the park at rosebud on saturday - that place is an accident waiting to happen, what a horrible launch.

yea and it is not only newbies. The currumbin issue is a problem though, some non kiters should not be were they are and there are some spots that arial transitions should not be done. I could find out but i work for the council and i do not want to draw attention to it. If there is a complaint that could lead to action that might hurt kiters it will hit my desk or my friends desk (also a kiter). I will ensure that everyone is kept well informed. In the mean time stay low about this (everybody) and keep your fingers crossed

Yeah i heard it was at Laceys (just North of the Alley)
I don't get why people don't find a spot with a mate and learn in safety.
Yesterday i kited for 3 hours in glass flat water off the sandbanks North of Wavebreak,(a short bodydrag accross the channel for a beginner) it was flatter and better than the alley could ever be, not one other kiter, tree, rock, swimmer, or object to hit within 400m. I had the best time. I left there and on my way home 5mins up the road theres 12 or so kiters kiting Loders with one beginner who very almost came to grief twice in the 10mins i was there. Exposed and very dangerous rocks all over the beach and one guy tells me that earlier 2 kites got stuck in the trees. All i could do was laugh at them.

So bro you can keep your fish pond cause I'm heading back to the coast with da most...sunny coast. See ya in coolum bro !!

hi,the incident to my information was that a lady was struck by a kiters body whilst he was being dragged by his kite up the beach.
several kiters and lifeguard were in attendance before ambulance took her to a brisbane hospital.
lets not let speculation or condemnation rule.
the story will unfold. it will be a learning experience for all.
the incident happened north of the alley where the boys and girls strut there stuff.

Unfortunately non-kiters will always be where you least expect or want them, that's why KITERS ALWAYS NEED TO AVOID NON KITERS and actively look out for them in all the spots you think they won't be! Not picking on you Richo, just think it's a valuable point that newbs forget.
You're not on the beach alone and unfortunately we are at the bottom of the food chain.

This is bad news and bad publicity as we all know, but anyone who has a laugh or joke crossing there fingers are more of a joke in the dogs book, seeing these actions and doing nothing about it is acceptance of the actions or situations... Remember when we all started there was always guidance and pointers from others. Give em a hand you never know you may need there help one day. Have we fallen into the macho egotistical self absorbed steps of our brother surfers???
