Hi all,

Thieves have have stolen my kiting gear:
North 09 rebel, 16m Royal blue canopy with brown trim.
M8 Stomp board 138 in a black and red cover
Brand new (not used) Airush switch, 144 white and blue colours.
North waist harness
Pro-limit seat harness

Now I figure there aren't a lot of blue and brown, 16m rebels in the country. As much as I would like to get my gear back and ID the thieves so I can pass on my regards (will travel to follow up), the most I can hope for, is to make it difficult to move or sell my stuff.

I have a passion for kiting and this has blemished it - if any info or ideas come to mind, i would really appreciate knowing.

Mate, It would help to give the area/state where they were stolen from.

We all hate thieves and will do what we can to help.

Sorry all,

My gear was stole from Darwin NT. It is a small community up here and would be recognised in a second. So I don't expect it to show up here.

Cheers,

You never know how dumb thieves are. I'd check out any second hand stores or any place that trades cash for second hand goods.

Yeah, I know a mate who found a heap of stuff that had been stolen by his room mate at Cash Converters, about 200m down the road from his house!! Thieves are stupid, I'd keep an eye out around town. I reckon you'd spot the little ****ers flying it down at your local beach.

my gear was flogged when I lived there in 2004, black and red matrix, and a new air rush board, never to be seen again

By the way im coming up next week only for a week, how are the winds?
Is everyone sailing out of rapid creek or the life saving club?

Fly guy, The SLSC is the place at the moment NW & N are starting to kick in with a few W's still around, has been pretty shabby last few weeks but the arvo storms have provided us wind starved diehards some time on the water.

Ok, everyone needs to do this right now (unless you've already done it)...

1. Get hold of the nearest digital camera or mobile phone camera.
2. Take pictures of you board, harness, bar and lines - even you wet suit.
3. Upload the phoos to you PC and make 'em read only in a safe location
OR
3. Print out the photos on a good quality colour printer and file in a safe place.

...so in the unfortunate event any of it gets stolen you'll have piccys to put up here and give to the police. This will also help you prove its your stuff.

Also helps to engrave your (eg) telephone number in a hidden spot as well as in a visible spot on all you gear.

Cheers Groper!!

Yeah, there's no limit to what you can do - but if someone wants to malliciously damage or steel soemthing - there's not much that can be done.
For sure though - after this little venture, I will be tagging my stuff until it look slike shameless self promotion.
I am also going to investigate remote tracking devices and possibly sew into the bag - I did this as research with reptiles years ago.
Thanx for taking note mate - the more the better.

Not sure yet - there are a lot of different types with different ranges. I have used them with 1-2klm range where the transmitter was a tiny plug that was surgically inserted - pefect for this sort of this though the range is not enough.
There was one I came accross that had a range of 5K that was $6-$700. A bit more research will come up with something cheaper and more suited.
Don't forget to keep an eye out for my stuff.....
