... we've got TOO MUCH wind down here at the moment!
50 knots this arvo, full Storm Warning.
I pumped up yesterday, 9m is all I have. Sanded him up on the beach started running the lines out, then BAM! I was sprinting down the beach chasing a loose kite in god knows what breeze. I've never run that fast before in my life. Perhaps I was flying? I packed up and went home, the way the waves melted into spray and them black clouds o'er yonder eventually turned me off. [}:)]

Has anyone ever 'enjoyed' kiting in over 40knots?

[}:)]I dont know whats wrong with you Kite devil! It only got to 62 knots here yesterday arvo and was like 35 - 55 most of the day and night. It tore one of my sails on the front of the bakery clean off and a few roofs in Bicheno went too! SMOKE ON THE WATER!! Crazy weather its time some of these kite companies developed kites for this sort of weather what with global warming and all, it will probably be like this more often.

There is no such thing as too much wind, just the wrong equipment.
40+knots is pretty insane though!

Yeah, you guys are soft. In 62 knots I just attach my boxer shorts to a bar with 15m lines. You get better range out of boxer shorts if you attach a bridle to the leading edge and at least it washes out the skids marks when it hits the water.

Technically, I have enjoyed kiting at 40 knots, but no more than that. I was on the speed strip in Namibia with pretty consistent wind and uber-flat water. The wind was more like 35 knots but a chap on the beach nearby said he was getting gusts up to 40 on his wind meter. I wouldn't have wanted to have a 10m up in 40 knots in any other situation though.

Made for some pretty special boosts...

I guess you'd have fun in a consistent 40knots, that sounds pretty special actually Greenpat.

Problem here is the lulls are 20knots, then bang it's 40knots, then it's not. So I'm with Saffer, boxer shorts sound the go... but I'd have to use Y-fronts because the leading edge would have a bend in it to prevent inverting.

Speaking of which...I know Greenpat used to blow smoke rings out of his ass as a party trick. I never saw him do it, but his girlfriend told me she saw nicotine stains on his underwear so I believe him

You're just jealous because you couldn't even stay on your feet in 40 knot winds, kite or no kite, scrawny little jaarpie runt.

Was out at Mandurah a while back when it was gusting to 45 in the squalls, was fun I thought. Got the biggest jump I have ever done, good to scare yourself.

They don't make 30cm bow kites for us light weights yet.
