Sounds like you guys are getting a bit crowded down that way.
I had Graveyards to my self last night with only sharks (***k there was a few!!) and turtles for company, the wind was joy and a couple of foot of swell made it funnnnn.
Was looking for someone to share the bitey's and joy.
Bit different to down south ay fella's!!!!

To the Euro bashers,

Visitors don't know local rules; most are having a hard time on the lingo let alone local decorum. I've done the pidgeon english thing with a few to let them know right and wrong here, and EVERY one has thanked me for the heads up and then done the rightie.

This post started with a vandal, and a euro who loved the stay regardless of the A-hole. Then it degenerated to localism, and racism. Pretty ugly.

If the spot is hassled, kite somewhere else. ****e! There is wind everywhere in Perth. Or kite upwind of the pack. Anything....just don't bitch about it. 90% of the crew would be local anyway I'd wager (and don't refue me; I don't give a crap about actual figures, but most would be local on the water on the day).

I've bought a block on South Beach and will be kiting from Woodies to Leighton as of next summer, instead of Peli Point. Will I be a blow in?

Open your minds little people, before you make someone angry enough to open your heads!

Probably worth writing (and drawing) the unwritten rules on a nice sign down on the beach there.

So the scarce ingredient is smooth water. How hard would it be to build an artificial kite surfing area? Would you need a proper breakwater, or could you just float something on the surface to smooth out the chop?

cheers

Toby,

Babies is great. And it can only handle so many people because of the dunes sheltering the water. It used to have 4 kiters tops on it(before you started kiting)...should those who used to have it unhassled start bitching to the newer kiters? So please, don't single out euros blaming them for an insta-crowd. They are part of the crowd, and likely not to know the locally derived rules.

I love flat water. But, I'm not going to hang in a war zone, just because thats where I usually buy my lunch.

A sign is a good idea, but most euros wont read it. I find a friendly hello after kiting with 'em, then explaining in an equally friendly manner has the sitcho sorted in short order. (Coupled with a sign).

Now Tobes. Your grammar is frightful, and punctuation non-existant. Should you speak like this in public you could be mistaken for a euro.

Sign ? What sign? What rules? Please don't start putting up signs and rules and regulations. We get enough of that **** all day,

I don't think you guys are fully understanding that this is a freestyle sport, can be dangerous, is radical and spectacular. It has no rules!! Anything goes... Just a few common sense courtesies that everyone knows anyway. Theres no signs explaining wave riding ettiquete to surfers at all the local breaks. They just get to know real quick what is the done thing or not- ie no dropping in etc.

If you don't like the 'blow-ins', the locals (most who consider themselves woodies locals seem to be new blow-ins anyway), the euros or tourists, then go elsewhere.

Otherwise come down and enjoy the show, its been heaps o fun lately!!

If you wanna run with the dogs- you can't pi$$ like a puppy!!

At Peli there is a sign saying don't kite in the C.A.L.M area, and I think that it says no launching / landing over the footpath.

Its important to signpost that stuff, because a mass failure to adhere will likely end up in a total ban of the area....hence, more kiters at woodies.

Firstly can we please clarify the VANDALISM issue. Was it just a finger on a dirty car or marking pen or spraypaint or what?

Secondly, there where alot of riders there that day, euros and locals and yes it was quite a circus with at least 20 riders out compared to the usual 12 to 14 locals that you see out there quite often anyway, but everybody seemed to be hugging the same little area. Now why is that I wonder? Could it have been Lance filming from the shore? Or the guy taking stills (I think) in the water? When the best and uncrowded water was further to the west along the rock wall.
Don't get me wrong folks, I also ventured into the circus for a little while to get my foto taken and ended up wrapping my kite around another LOCALS kite and snapping my board in the same sequence (could of happened on any day, go figure).

Thirdly, some of those guys where fully rippin like you young fella's are down there so if there are issues with their on water ettiquette, try talking to them and not AT them and explain the local rules, right of ways etc to them and you may find out that they're not a bad crowd after all, and you all might learn alot from each other. (And a little side note to that is if you're ever in Denmark, Holland, Spain, Italy, UK or wherever, you may be able to score some free accomodation close to a good kiting spot).

At the end of the day dudes, MELLOW OUT to the visitors you're all complaining about, they may be kiting at woodies wondering why there are so few people around compared with their own local spots.

Chill out and enjoy the woodies you have to yourselves 95% of the year.
