Hi all, I know this has probably been discussed before but has anyone got a particular way of tuning kite lines, I have SS Rev's and want to make sure all lines are sorted and of same length again. I vaguely remember Choicy showing how to do it on kite life but that was ages ago and I dont have a copy.
Tie a bit of line around a tree, thread the larksheads through it and hook pull them tight from the bar. If one or more are short, untie the rest and lean on the short one ony a bit until they are right.
That's from the North Manual, I've never done it but seems logical.
Make sure you check the bridle line lengths. Just put new ones on my 9m rev2 and it flys soooo much better. I think the P lines had shrunk, one side more so than the other. Still can't understand why they had shrunk but fairly sure that's what happened
i simply get 4 tent pegs and put em in the ground in a straight line and then pull lines tight and adjust as per RRD's manual . all lines are equal length but whats the point there is no wind in wa :P
just push a screwdriver thru the larks heads and jam it into the ground and then stretch them out to see if one is longer. with the revs though, the bridle actually gets shorter where the pulley runs back and forth and this i what is massively effecting the way it fly s. you can buy replacements from slingshot or make your own out of strong thin rope from your local ship chandler and tying a bowline knot at the right spot. you will find that the pulleys are also worn and the exact same ones can be bought also at the local ship chandler for 10 bucks for 2. if you do a search for slingshot rev bridle lengths you will find them somewhere, as each kite size has different lengths its important you get this absolutely right
I agree if a rev is flying poorly, it is going to be the bridle. But definitely check all the lines are the same length when fully powered up. Also check the lines for wear, fraying, knots, check all of the joins, pigtails, check the pulleys check the bridle attachment points and check all the stitching on the kite to make sure any repairs can be done before the start of season.
