Hi all,
This season I want to start doing some unhooked riding and would greatly appreciate some advise on how to go about this safely on my 7m & 9m crossbow kites. I know that I need to depower the kite before unhooking, but how much?
I'd also like to know how you self rescue on a bow kite or a hybrid.
Thanks

Hey Caela
Unhooked...
Im not realy into riding unhooked yet, but I would assume that you just pull the bar in 100%, trim it so that you feel happy with the power and unhook. You will connect your saftey under the bar and set your stopper / trim / whatever to make the kite to fall out of the sky when you drop the bar, not so much that it inverts though.
Self Rescue...
Check tip 15 / 16 below

One point for bows is that you will need to have your leash connected to one line so that you can flag the kite. Having a ball 20 feet up this line can help you get to the bar faster when reeling in the line as it wont travel all the way to the kite.

Hi Caelah
Since we purchased some headzone helmets we have been asked by several experienced begginers to do some coaching for them to rid them of bad habits or help them get beyond certain limits.
I would suggest that you and anyone needing help in this way approach the shop and the instructors and work out a deal.
We are keen to help everyone in the are become better and safer kiters, if the helmets can help, and beer or a few $$ can be exchanged we should have a win/win.

Crossbows dont have much on the depower strap if i recall correctly... so Basically just pull it all the way, steer downwind, unhook and pop...
