Hi there, I used to think that high aspects were the best at upwind and in a way I think they still do have the advantage but at the end of the day, you need to be powered up, then you will make some ground, whether your flying high, mid or low aspect.
Never owned a SS, but I have heard they are somewhere between a high and mid Aspect kite

In general a high AR kite has better upwindability because they have lower air resistance/pulling power ratio, so you kan fly them closer to the edge of the wind window. But a lot of different factors (among others the diameter of the leading edge, the size of the kite) affects the air resistanse so this isn't always true.

Arh the great debate has started again...

Foils vers Inflatables

its really interesting to hear guys think that all the latest gear in the world will help them ride upwind better...

Yeah I ride the latest gear but theres no better way to go upwind than learn to do it properly...

The foil guys are going to rant and rave that their kites do things better and so are the Inflatable guys...

The foil guys are going to say the their kites never luf and fall out of the sky, the Inflatable guys will come back and say well at least you can self rescue with an inflatable...

Do you think that was going through ALAN's mind when he was swimming in at woodies 300m off shore on the north side... your a girl AL.....hehehehe

If you've never dropped your kite, your not trying hard enough !
To hear your knee go POP ruins a kite trip !
Sucide leash's and onshore conditions are a interesting combination !
Broken ribs SUCK !
