MDW Environmental Services have been appointed by the City of Rockingham to carry out environmental investigations offshore adjacent to the Bent St Boat Ramp, Safety Bay.

The Scope of Works for the environmental investigations will require the following;

· Acid Sulphate Soils Investigation to assess whether potential Acid Sulphate Soils are present.

· Waste Classification to determine if any contaminants are present.

· Geotechnical Classification (Particle Size Distributions) to assist in optimisation of dredging equipment and to determine options for reuse of the dredged material.

A minimum of 13 core samples are to be taken within the proposed navigation channel footprint. The abovementioned works shall commence Wednesday 23 January 2013 – Friday 25th January 2013 weather permitting.

Please see attached Temporary Notice to Mariners (TNTM) which will be published in the public notices section of The West Australian Newspaper on Wednesday 23 January.

Thank you

This will have an impact on kite surfing in the Safetybay area. Please avoid the area. Deptment of Transport have the authority to issue heavy fines for none compliance..

The Barge and anchor points will be marked with yellow buoys about 1m in height and display rhythmic yellow flashing lights. The barge will be displaying lights and shapes as per the prevention of collisions at sea regulations 1983.

Excellent news this....who's going to tell those Euro chaps about this?

Perhaps a few fines thrown their way might help filter the pond scum?
