Avalon, Mandurah!

Perfect flat water on the inside for the steeze danglers and a long left reefy for the Mitu/Wilson sorts.

Avalon for KS10

Vote now.

Do it.

No way..... If you want to make a light wind testival maybe...
But as there is not much interested locally all the partecipants will have to fly in.
Doesn't sound like a good idea to me!

YHTBJ. 250 cars 500 kites 1,000 people on a 200m surf beach or a 25m inside beach????

Get real. Council wont allow it on environmental grounds alone. That place is fragile and needs to be protected. Its already overcrowded - the car parks are already full on the weekends (they only take a dozen or so cars). I could go on.....

A Kitestock at Avalon is the fastest way to destroy the location and get it permanently banned to kites.

This is disturbing. I woke up today and found myself agreeing with the slave. Am I really awake? Is this a nightmare? Have I gone to the dark side?.......

hmmm, I see there's a poll on www.waksa.com. Looks like only logged in WAKSA members can vote now though. I suppose that's fair enough, since you have to be a WAKSA member to go to Kitestock.

I agree we should move it else where they have had 3 fantastic years but a change would be great aslong as there is the accomodation and facilities to reflect the amount of people that goes to the event. Maybe Cervantes would be good not sure on the Accomo though.

Burger!

Why is the move on? Hassles with the current location/setup or just a change?

For my 2c I went to KS for the 1st time this year and found the whole set-up to be A1. Particularly the pub/grub and hospitality were superb. Like a well-oiled machine.

I couldn't imagine a Perth venue treating us anywhere near as well to be honest. Hey, I live in Perf and the service etc in this kneck o' the woods is 3rd world!

Obviously Dongara is a bit of a drive but 4 hrs listening to my fav tunes (that's why I took my hatchy - it has the nicest stereo ) tres relaxing.

My only gripe (which plays into the hands of moving it to Perf) would be I didn't get much of an idea about the kites I demo-ed due to the well above average Perf winds. I guess for this reason the retailers would be keen for a move.

Oh well..

1. Back (south) beach, Lano. Closer to Perth. Tons of room in the bay, plus reef breaks for those who like to mix it up with the Poleys.

2. Wedge (along the new Indian Ocean) Road - but prob best to stay nights in Lano.

3. A combo of both.

M2C.

It does have all the facilities for the event, and a reasonable distance from Perth.

Im with GF i reckon it goes really well where it is, it has all the goods going for it and not that far really , Wedge could be the second location if it needed to be moved, close enough and you would end up with a lot more people but facilities would way off the pace ! compared to the pub grub we had

If it ain't broke......
I can't think of anywhere else that would be better than Dongara/ Denison.
Yes the wind was a bit strong for some people this year (especially for testing kites), but last year the wind was just about perfect and the year before was too light.
I would say on average the winds at that neck of the woods are spot on for the event.
Lancelin would probably be a reasonable alternative, however a lot of us go up there regularly and I think it is good to have it a bit further up the road.

Sunset Beach caravan park in Gero sits right on the beach.
Leave your kite pumped up next to your tent.
Waves out the back and flattish water on the inside.
Probably too far from Perth for a weekend though.

Looks awesome especially if you can land on the islands and WAKSA had boats around.
You could set up a neat camp at the break.
