Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can recomend a decent kitesurfing school in Melbourne? I live in Sandringham so something over this side of the bay would be good.
Cheers,

There is a school operating in st.kilda, have a look at stkildakiteboarding.com.au
An other one closer to you would be shq.com.au. That's a pretty cool Kite/Wind/Surf-shop just pop in there and have a chat to the guys, they are quite helpful.
These are the only ones I know of, however, I can't recommend any of them cos I haven't done a course with them.

Here are two. Can't recommend either of them because I haven't used them for training at all.

(Laurie before you take this one down, i have taken the prices off, is this ok?
We have lessons at the moment, wind is good, water is ok. it is better to learn now and be up and riding by summer than it is to learn in summer (less people)
What steps do I need to go through?
There are 3 different steps you must go through in becoming a confident and safe Kiteboarder.
1: "Kite Pilot" (on the beach)? This important first step is the fastest and safest way to learn and develop solid kite skills before you attempt to use a board. 80% of Kiteboarding is kite control. ?local site orientation, the wind window, safety systems, flying 4-line power-kites, the power zone, set-up, launching/landing full sized 4-line inflatable kites, basic Kiteboarding etiquette.
2: "Body drag" (shallow water lesson) This session is designed to help you gain the confidence you need to be hooked into the kite, use the safety systems and gain the skills of self-rescue in the water.
Set up and Safety skill review, using a harness, hooking in, using the safety systems, power/de-power, body dragging, water relaunching your kite, self-rescue.
3: "Board rider" (on the water) Now that you can Pilot a full sized kite in the water with safe, confident control, you are ready to progress to a board. In this lesson you will develop the skills you need to Kiteboard safely and successfully on your own.
Unassisted set-up and launching, tuning the kite, water starting, edging and board control, changing direction, staying up wind.
Commonly asked questions:
How long does it take to learn to Kiteboard?? Based on the hundreds of students taught. It takes an average student with little or no experience approx. 5-8 hours of professional instruction with ideal wind and water conditions to learn the basics. Your instructors primary concern is your safety and enjoyment. Your primary concern should be the same.
Do I need to be strong to do this sport?? No. However, you do need to be in reasonable physical condition. Always consult your doctor before beginning such activities that have the potential to be physically demanding.
How much does it cost for Kiteboarding equipment and where do I get it?? Initial start up costs are comparable to most action sports ... but after that, wind is Free.
Is the sport dangerous??
Like other action sports, there is an inherent danger to you and others around you if the proper safety systems, equipment, training and techniques are Not fully utilized. Exercise good judgment and know your limitations. Always wear and use the proper safety equipment.
Why do I need to take Professional lessons for this sport?
• Save Money ... use our schools equipment to learn the basics rather than trashing your new gear.
• Save time ... you will learn at least 4 times faster. Our instructors will show you the fastest way to Kiteboard safely.
• Knowledge... instructors know the proper techniques and the most common errors that beginners make.
• Equipment.... Try out the various types of gear and see which is best for you before you buy.
• Positive Experience.... instructors are concerned with your safety and enjoyment. You should have fun and learn in a safe and nurturing environment.
