has anyone been on this website, http://www.wannakitesurf.com/, it is the kiters, wannasurf. it would be great if all these SB forumers also went onto this site so we could get all the good spots listed. a great resource i think.

ps. i have nothing to do with these people, i just found this ^^ site then.

everyone have a look, and add your local...

Hey man,

I use the wannasurf website ALL the time when I am planning surfing trips. It is spectacular. It would be awesome if people used one like this with a graphical map for kiting, but unfortunately I haven't found one yet.

The closest one I have found is windguru. If you go to the 'top spots' section in archived data, you can kind of get an idea there, but nothing like wannasurf.

Does anyone have a good global kiting spot they are aware of?

There are that many kitebeaches around that I'm not sure if it would make a massive difference. When I go up/down the coast for surfing, it is extremely useful, and the waves are neve too crowded, even when wannasurf raves about it.

I believe kiting would be the same, it may even distribute the crowds so that tourists know that there is more than dolls point/brighton to kite in Sydney, or Cumbuco in Brazil.

So if more places got listed then the crowds would be smaller on the ones that are listed?

One of the great things I like about kite surfing is the willingness to share and help others (obviously there are always exceptions). When I was learning (about 3 months ago), it was awesome that everyone was giving me pointers and encouragement, telling me what beaches to go on which conditions etc. Whereas surfing has that macho competitive localism bull****. But I guess since the sheer expansion of kiting, it will become more like surfing as people fight for space. Unfortunate I guess.

I see the points for not listing places, but I am definitely all for it.

Wait until Stoked Publications puts out it's World Kite and Windsurfing Guide, then it will truly be over for the best spots ;-) I have the Europe guide and its like reading Kitesurf Porn... and its released in three languages for the avid Euro Kiter...

I think Kitebeaches is good but a lot of the information you need is incomplete.

For me, that website has been a great resource. I can work out where I need to go when I take mini trips around Europe, and it was cool to see where was best to go when I came to Perth at Christmas. I would have never, ever found Beauduc in France without it, and that was one of my life's highlights!

For all of youse that live in WA and say "I don't want outsiders hanging round my local spot" its all well and good when you live in a spot like Perth, where you can set your watch to the Doctor and be at the beach in 20min, but the rest of the world isn't like that, and heading to the beach isn't a decision made at 3 in the afternoon!

yeah, good on ya L.I.L, thats what i was thinking this site would be good for. planning trips without any local knowledge of winds and conditions is very hard.

im going through these troubles, trying to find a cheap overseas location.

cheers for the 'positive' input
