Around the middle of 2008 I brought a 12m Nemesis Hp. Which was such a superb kite I when and brought a 9m to go with it. Like most people I looked at the discfor setup and did not bother to fill in the warranty form on the net. About 2months later the leading edge exploded while I was way off the back of point moore in gero (thanks to the 2 guys who came out to help me in). Feeling very pissed off as I had only used to kite about 8 times due to weather and work conditons and the fact I had not filled in the warranty form, I went back to Tim at G-Spot.
Tim was excellent(thanks bro) and after a month or so of hasselling on my behalf I ended up with a new replacement.
The moral of the story, fill in your warranty, deal with some one you trust and don't give up

Perhaps the real moral is to deal with a shop/authorised re-seller?

I think filling in the card is not relavent... The law is that they have to give a certain warranty (12 months?) the card/on line registration etc means nothing.. Some companies just aren't worth dealing with a second time... That's my warranty.. If it's crap don't go back

And when you fill in the card.. all you end up with is spam and junk mail you don't want

I didnt register my 10m nemi either, I bought it in april 2008,It has been well used, in late oct my middle strut burst from leading edge to valve, spoke to shop I bought it from and after 2 weeks had a brand new kite no worries. It depends on the shop, Bill in shop I go to must be the most helpful guy in Essex UK. Some shops just want your money after that you can **** off when something goes wrong or breaks, sounds like you have found a good guy in your local shop, hope you did what I did and give him a nice bottle of something. shop owners if good need rewarding to show your thanks. I think though best have a good after sales reputation.

Take Tim some beer. I gave Bill a $45 bottle of scotch, much cheaper than a new kite or repair and after his 4 or more phone calls to best USA he had earned it. Look after your shop owners and they will look after you. If they are crap shop else where, my local shop 5minutes away are ****e so I travel 40 minutes to shop with Bill.

KK is spot on, warranty cards just get you spam mail.
It is illegal to deny warranty on a product in Oz because a warranty card was not filled in, FACT.
I've never filled in a warranty card for anything I have purchased and my mail box does not cop too much cr@p.

Just to make things real clear. Best Kiteboardings warranty procedure in Australia only requires your place of purchase (retailer) to send photos, serial numbers and receipt of purchase to best warranties and the claim will be processed from there. The warranty form on the disc that comes with the kite is mainly for the NOrthern Hemi. Best will look after ya here in Oz, ill make sure of it.

However if you crash your kite on a rock, in a tree, or just hit the deck super hard, then dont bother trying to claim for it.

Thanks

Could you please clarify " Super hard "

Maybe in Kilo newtons or some measure of force. Or maybe velocity in M per sec.

If the kite only hits just "Reasonably hard" thats OK,Yes ?
