I used to leave my key in the kite bag but recently the wind or something else blew the bag away. So I figured it might be an idea to keep the key on me, only problem is that it has the remote connected to the key and is not waterproof.

I need a Waterproof Key Holder anyone got any ideas where I can source one?

Only thing I've found so far is:
cgi.ebay.com.au/AQUAPAC-WATERPROOF-KEYMASTER-KEY-AND-MONEY-CASE_W0QQitemZ4578238568QQcategoryZ15263QQssPageNameZWD2VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

http://secure.realsurf.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=36&products_id=173

But i don't like it much.

I just get a plain key cut for a couple of bucks and hang it around my neck - stash the immobilizer inside the car in a hard to find spot

Following on from Ian's reply, you may need to buy a "blank" key from the manufacturer (I did for a Subaru) if you local locksmith can't provide a specialised blank.

Airborne sell an "Aquapac" that I use to protect my UHF radios on the helmets. They are cheap and come in a variety of sizes and work exceptionally well.

Kitepower stocks these too, they are excellent, inexpensive products, and come in a variety of sizes for phones, keys, cameras, money belts, etc.
They will be online soon too at kitepower.com.au
The local locksmith will also have non electronic blank keys for all late model cars, if you prefer to go that route, last one I got was exxy though (80 series Landcruiser?)

Guys,

Check your insurance with most (or all?) policies if you hid a "proper" key in your car and it is used to start your car = no payout.

I have used the Aquapac for my mobile and key for 3 or 4 years, they are great.

We sell heaps of them at Airborne from the key model for $27.50 up to the SLR or Video ones for about a $160.

So pop into Kitepower or Airborne Kitesurfing and check them out.

Thanks,

Ian.

i have had the same dilemer myself, seeing as i am dont want to leave my car without the alarm activated, i have to take the keys with me, including the remote.

its all well and good when the missus is on the beach, but on every other time, i am stuck with leaving it in the kite bag, or taking my spare key without a remote, and leaving my car "key locked" with an expensive alarm doen NOTHING! Not to mention all the kite gear, sterio and engine are all there for the taking if someone jumps in and steels it!

i think some form of waterproof holder is a good idea, but somthin thats small and not bulky that could go around the neck and under the wettie without any real discomfort.

so yeah, these previous suggestions are good, might look into it myself.

catch yas..

p.s. if your car is stolen and there is no form of damage to door locks, igition barrel/wiring, windows, etc, then they can say that there's ground to belive insurance fraud. and have the right to not pay up! so dont leave ya remote in the car! leave it at home.

"how to make a free engine kill switch" remove ya fuse box lid, located under the dash or in the engine bay, remove the fuse that says either "EFI", "ECU", "ignition", "fuel pump" as any one of these will render the car undrivable. this will not stop them breaking in, but it will stop them stealing the car unless they realise the problem, but usually deters them.
