Gday Keith.I,ve a shack @ wedge and spend most of my weekends there.If you are experienced u can kite in just about any wind.Had a great session on the south side of the island in a westerly last Thursday.Was glassy and smooth with waves!!Generally in summer a really long sandbar forms between the island(sometimes even connects with the island) and mainland wich is good on a s/wester.THis is can be really smooth depending on the formation of the bar.It can also be a bit flukey if the wind is blowing straight over the island.last week when i was there the sanbar hadn`t formed so well so we all went north to the Nortern surf beach.About 2 k,s up the beach.Really there are so many options from lancelin to servantes and further as we know,so just go for a drive.I`m sure on a hot weekend like tis coming there will be other kiters.last weekend there was about 8 maybe 10 on sun and winds were good.Might see ya there.

THe wedge island leases have been renewed.The last lease ran out about 2 years ago and they said that was it and the bulldozers would come in.We have an association up there and there`s a lawyer and accountant and a few other proffesionals involved in the struggle to retain the shacks(they are working really hard).Their argument is why should we go if they have no use for the land.Anyway it all gets pretty involved because of the crown land(army training area)They reckon their gonna join servantes and lancelin(hiway).Through a live firing zone??????All i can say really is that it looks like they have agreed to let us stay until a major hiway goes through or someone decides to develop the area..Could be years.I remeber when i got my license and started using my dads old shack(13 years ago)him telling me that they were talking about bulldozing in 72.???

hope we can have it for years to come.
if any kiters are coming up to camp they are welcome to drop in and use the dunny or shower,or even set up camp out side.i`ve had a few up before and we had some good sessions

nah wasnt my idea pommy paul and da boys where going to do the lano to wedge run. for crazyness ask Ian young or mild curry about the leighton to lano run they did a couple of years ago 7 hours of downwind madness, hats off to the boys for that one.
