The wind is blowing WNW and NNW tomorrow, new to kiting, only been to Weyba, is there somewhere safe to kite when wind out the west\nw?

Yes, that is what I am worried about, trying to find launch sites on the other side of Weyba or other locations near the sunshine coast where it is safe, def won't be heading out when offshore

Mooloolaba spit works, as it curls around into that little cove. So NW is like side on-shore. Havn't had a chance to test it yet, waiting for the wind to pick up, but I saw I guy out this morning there.

Thanks to all the other people for their replies and help, most people I have met since I started kite surfing have been awesome but it seems there are a few dickheads in every sport (thanks Crakas, maybe some counselling would be in order)

had the sickest session today (saturday), with my usual optimistic attitude i rocked up to noosa river, no wind and the tide just starting to run in (dang). decided to pump up my kite and set up my lines but still no wind, had a little relax lay down on the beach and a little swim (all taking up about 45mins of my time). Then suddenly i felt a SW com up and luckily i had set up before hand so i was ready in about 30 seconds. It rapidly picked up to what felt like 16knts. 2 other kiters visiting from new zealand saw my efforts and set up aswell but missed out on the 20mins i was having fun. so basically imagine prefect noosa conditions but inverted, wind coming from the land moving north out the river with an incoming tide which was perfect as it was the right direction for the wind. The river was pretty choppy and the wind was very gusty but i had the funnest 2 hour session. The same thing happened last sunday, me. blownaway and taxi were at the river mouth late in the arvo kiting in **** all wind then all of the sudden it kicked in and we had a sick little session.

So the moral of the story is be optimistic, while most kiters were either bored at home or wasting energy paddling on a surfbored i was there at the river with no wind and **** tide but i set up anyway, it may not always work being optimistic but when it does work it onl makes that session more enjoyable knowing u were one of the only ones there to suck it up.
