Looks like the first Westerlies will be visiting in Sydney this weekend. So where do I go to kitesurf now?

Seen a couple people kite on that side.

1. Gusty as hell
2. Sea plane
3. Powerlines
4. Very Small launch/beach
5. Super flat water
6. Tons of space on the water
7. Worst come to worst you can drag to Umina dogging the sharks and get the ferry back

Still worth a go. What ever gets your whistle wet.

just be careful of the out going tide because you could be dragged past lion island and palm beach lighthouse into open water, if the flathead are biting you may be able to rescued by the fishermen. Dont rely on the surf rescue because last time they managed to get the kite lines dragged into the jetboats motor, and it became a double rescue. Fortunately i only witnessed the event, i was not involved otherwise.

Somebody asked me yesterday at the NSWKBA BBQ (where funnily it's always the very same people turning up... so much for trying to expand the communication within the northern beaches kitesurfers! lol...) what I was doing during winter when the wind was only blowing off shore... I answered "I'm going nuts..."
That's winter in Sydney...
I remember you posting something few months ago regarding kiting in winter, to which a whole bunch of very optimistic people told you Sydney still rocks... I'm sorry but it's bullocks...
(don't you worry, it's gonna take about 30mn for a whole bunch of post to turn up disagreeing with me!)
Kiting becomes a real challenge just to motivate yourself (I remember 6AM session at Doll's, before work, on 35 knots icy SW, where I really did ask myself what was bloody wrong with me!!! (why can't I just like ballet dancing???)), the southerlies are freezing (I am a bit of a hopeless case when it comes to coldness, but I DID kite with 2 wetsuits on top of each other last winter!!! (If anybody saw a Michelin guy kiting, it was me!!!)),it's gusty as f*ck, you need to drive for ever to get a session...
So if you ask me, "what now"...?
Agree with rockstar!!!!
Get into surfing (the surf's been awesome lately), rock climbing, cycling, kick boxing, whatever, but do not rely on kitesurfing to fulfill your adrenalin need...
And no, I am not being negative, I'm only being honest: you may have appreciate yourself how reliable the forecast has become over the past last weeks and how much kiting we got in... and that's still good, and the water is still nice and warm....
By the time we reach June, I will have become so unbearable for everybody around that even my boss is going to ask me to go on (kiting) holiday!!!
-which is somehow.... fine by me!!!!-
So, tip of mine: in anticipation of your kitesurfer's snap by mid-winter, already tell your employer you will be taking some holidays!!!
-yeah: where do you kite in Sydney in winter? The answer is: somewhere else!!!!-

Thanks em, I guess Ill just wait and see as to what happens.
In my previous winter kiting post I mentioned Ive been kiting in uk in winter which is friggin awful. But still good to get on the water.

Meant to make the BBQ on Sunday - but after a fantastic session on Saturday , and then a night at V watching the pixies - getting in at 4am , I was too shattered to move from my bed most of the day.

Check out Kite Spots on the nswkba website. Plenty of spots to go in Westerlies but it does get cold...I wear full wetsuit, booties, rash vest and anything else I can find. just make sure you've got your ugg boots, beanie and warm clothes for after with a flask of hot tea!

Otherwise book some cheap flights and go away, that's my preferred choice now there are some awesome deals going!
