have some 2 inch high 3 inch long fins.. i think they are too small.. should i go bigger.. whats a good size

They sound like a pretty good size.
Persevere. You will probably find they are OK once your skills improve.
But try checking someone elses board. You may have put them on backwards

i think you should consider the 2inch high but 8 inch long fins or perhaps some 3.5inch high 4 inch long fins... i hear if you put them on in reverse u get even more grip.

yer maybe ? but youd have to make sure they are on the right side or they would only grip on your off side.

A good mate of mine rides a 118 cardboard with only 2 fins on toeside.
He's been riding it for years and can go upwind as good as anyone.

Certainly doesn't hold back his unhooked riding style.

I've ridden his board and it obviously feels weird at the start but
I'm sure I could get used to it. Its slippery fun.

would you put fins on a snow board? NO !! why? because your using the edge of the board as a fin. Fins do not help, if your board has a concave it will feel just like you have fins when riding but a lot less resistance. So you go faster better upwind better performance from your kite and bigger more controled jumps.

But you do have to change your stance a little when riding.

no fins allow you to pick up speed on the skim so you can develop power and get going. It's very similar to a plane taking of on a run way. get going in very light winds

fins just dig into the sand and throw you onto your face!!!

Still don't undersand why board are made with fins still??? one day they will realize?

maybe it's 'cos some of us ride in water that's more that 2 inches deep ??

He brings a good point, wakeboards have had channels for years. slight channels on the tips of your board with concave/concaves in the middle make for a much better board than one with just fins.

for a surfboard get a 1980's Col Smith channel bottom 6 or 8 channels - like each one is 2 inches deep. just add water and go

I have an old bob minty thruster at home and its got big channels through the tail. It rips. The reason they dont do channels in surfboards anymore is its to much hassle for the glasser

oha and then the year after that his little brother aden will be winnig n **** coz yer hes like fully wearing these new bindings..you sould see em like imagine bindings with a long sock coming out and like joining to and impact vest/ seat harness n yer heez just steeezing and like fully popping wakestyle like propper gayleys fully hooked in like popping 16cm off a massive 9ft kicker while his kite is enjoying lunch and hes like fully underpowered and its just oh its the future bro like hes doesnt even ride a twintip oh no he doesnt hes on the buzz board bro like fully sick and its just about 72cms long but this buzz board is a skateboard bro so its not a twintip but its is a twintip coz hes got 2 fins on his heelside edge but its not his heelside edge coz hes turned the board around so his stance is like fully ducked stanced inward so now his fins are actually on the toeside edge and its helps with his hooked in fully underpowered body dragging aswell like its fully does u know and hes like only 16 cms under the water now..hes at the nats aswell and hes gonna be ripping on his fully ripped up fuel coz he went fishing for birds and just happened to get snagged.

Has anyone seen the fins that go on the wake boards? they bolt them on top of the board and the fin section sticks out not down. So as you edge the board the fin is place at the optimal possy and you can still ride in shallow water.

why none nobody in kitesurfing has looked into that??

I made a similar fiberglass fin for my board and it worked untill the pressure of a tight turn broke it.
