OK simple question, whats the go with tieing knots in kite lines, i.e. repairs, shortening lines etc. I have heard that knots is a no no as it will create a weak point?? any comments welcome...

Yes knots can weaken line as can splices, this is not limited just to spectra as it applies to all types of lines.

Should not be done as it has the potential to cut through itself. best method is a sleeve and sew it up. There are normally heaps of guys with old sleeves on their old gear and you can look at a one your good ones and mimick the sewing using, yes,... dental floss aparaently does the trick.
Make a loop with a sheath and sew it up like the others
