kite simplicity.
Kite simplicity is an illusion !. To give something the appearenceing of simplicity, it has taken hundreds of man/womans hours in research & development, testing and riding to get it right. Just so when it hits the customers hot little hands it's simple !
I give credit where credit is due. The LB's & Takoon have developed awell thought out product for 05/06. Personally I think these style kites will be radically different in 06/07. Like I mensioned above, when a bow kite has no requirement for a bridal to support its structure or pulleys to aid in it's turning performance, then I think we'll be onto something remarkable...
Thats what we're striving for at bestkiteboarding...

i do have a question for the xbow or swithblade riders out there... to even bother making a claim that this kite is a two kite quiver or 1 kite quiver... IMO you need to be able to unhook when overpowereed and loop the kite without dying, and whatever the max wind you can do that in is, is your real top wind, caus after that speed, you ride different , dont do risky tricks and I think any new adjustable 5th line could match the bow for range.
Otherwise cabrinha would sell a 16, 10 and 6, vice 6,7,9,13,16 and however many other sizes he had.

Coming back to the question you asked at the begining , the main thing that I find is lack of familiarity when riding the bows .
I have been kiting for 4 years , I have finally figured out how to do the things I want to with a C kite and now I get given a kite that flys totally differently . " I don't think I like it "
I have only used a bow about half a dozen times but didn't enjoy myself and got frustrated each time .
I feel it comes down to what you want out of the kite , I ride waves and only use a surfboard (no jumping for me anymore ) so I was very interested in the bows after reading Marks Shinn's write up claiming it as the best wave kite ever .
For the conditions I ride in and for my style of riding I feel I get more out of the C kites .
The biggest advantage is the turning , with c kites you can feel where they are and what they are doing . I also like to ride in the sweet spot of the range for a kite as this keeps it super responsive . With the the bows I found they had good range but were only as responsive as c's in a narrow band .
Like I said , its all about the conditions you ride in . If we had cross-off winds (like Mark Shinn ) and wanted to get onto a wave and then drastically reduce the power they would be great but while I am riding Scarbs slop in onshore winds I will stick to my c's as I find them easier to use . If I lived somewhere that didn't have constant winds and was very frontal I would probably be more interested in the bows but living in Perth it is easy enough to put up a kite and be in the sweet spot of its range .
Hope this makes some sense to you because , as always ,I am still fairly confused .

With all this, what could possibly be wrong? They don't talk back to me - it is a one-way conversation, like doing it with my latex Monica. I want a kite that comes to the party, gives some feedback, has an opinion. I can't have a relationship with a fence sitter, a grey area girl. I want snap decisions, confidence, fiesty and in your face. C is for charisma, character and challenge. That's my kite.

That is extremely well said. I ride a 9m bow and I love it, but out of the thousands of posts I have read that is the first one that I will credit in favour of the C kite. And your point is valid; again I say well said!

RE the Nova - or the Noway maybe. Actually maybe that is a little harsh. The kite itself is fine, no real difference from the XB, Sonic, Turbo D, etc etc. The huge let down is the bar. Soggy, slow to respond, no feedback, dreadful safety system - a velcro stopper that jammed on us once then would just pop open if you so much as looked at it. Back to the drawing board me thinks. I have seen the Slingshot Turbo Diesel bar. Now there is where they should be heading - simplicity itself. It is actually too simple to describe - you just have to see it, and you'll wonder why they aren't all like that. They probably will be.
That said; still can't get my head round the bow kite - easy to ride, awesome windrange, great safety (if you know how to use it - 4 of the last 5 people I have seen in the trees at Peli Point have been attached to bows) and doddle to relaunch.
