Going to Esperance late December to early January...

Where is a good safe place to kite please? I'm pretty new and looking for flat water so I can get the hang of this sport !!

Thanks in advance...

Stu

Ask around town for someone to take you to a nice little spot called cyclops.

I sat on the shoulder a few years ago when the tension boys were filming out there an chad broke his back.

Nice safe kite area, forgiving sand bar etc etc etc

^^^ dunno why. He wants flat water so the bay is about the only place. Need a 4WD for some wave spots, but certainly not to find flatwater.

Bikramstu, in a normal seabreeze, the end of Castletown Quays would be the go for almost cross shore, easy flatwater. The rest of the bay in different wind directions. BUT if there is the tiniest bit of north in it, forget it.

Wylie Bay can be good also.

The bay is not flat, its choppy as in a cranking SE (the prevailing wind in summer). Yes it can be flat, but only on a westerly, unusual in Summer, and if so, usually stormy. There are butter flat spots, but you need a 4WD. For waves without a 4WD, just follow "the tourist route" and the best flat water you'll get is between the broken waves.
