I'm going to be getting some new kites. Seeing as I am not a complete beginner anymore, but still a far way off advanced, I was just wondering, which specific type of kite would be best for me if I like high, floaty boosts? Currently I have a T2.

I'm not really looking for C kites, mainly because of their small windrange and I can only afford 2 kites new.

I weigh 100kilos, 6ft2"

I've heard mention of the rev a lot, if anyone has had a chance to compare it to the T2, it would be great to hear what you think.

I'll 2nd the Edge2, the hang and float are immense. Give it a go. You can go huge and land like a feather every time.

Some of the biggest jumps I've ever seen, were done on North Rebels. The ozones definately give you great height and hang time too.

North Rhino 08 - huge jumps due to being able to massively depower in high wind and then bang on the power when you pop.

Huge hangtime and soft gliding landings because of the delta shape.

Rebel jumps like crap in my opinion. I ride a Vegas and reckon the Rebel jumps half as high and the Rhino jumps 1.5 times higher than the Vegas.

Yep, North Rhinos are the go, not the Rebels, like I said. Never seen anyone jump higher and longer on anything else.

Go Old school and I boost LARGE on my 18 mtr NAISH AERO 2. This kite is sick for boosting and hang time like I've never experienced with the new kites.

Been looking at the Rhino, gotta say it is a HOT looking kite. I was waiting for someone to say the Rhino as it seemed to be the one that comes up everytime I search 'hangtime. with kitesurfing in google.

It does however look a bit like an advanced kite, but I'll be sure to demo it before buying, low end power - love the sound of that, seeing as I'm a fairly heavy dude.

So I think it's Rev vs. Rhino vs. Ozone Edge II for now.

Hey Jimmyz,

I think if you drop in on Kitepower, they should have a demo Edge II for you to try.

Don't mind the nosebleeds from altitude, you just get used to it

Good winds,

you want biggest boosting kite ...ill give the biggest boosting kite. its my two line and it so happens to be for sale...jk

can't help but notice when asked which kite as opposed to which type of kite people pimp a kite...but when asking which type the general agreement is the technique ...such a fine line

Don't Buy Ozone they may have the hang time/ float but they just don't sit like most other kites in the sky (they don't find them selfs in the air as well as other kites). don't have a fantastic wind range like many other kites.

I have seen this first hand with a mates 9m Ozone Instinct when i was flying a SB2 8m and was going harder than him in lighter winds.

yeah that's right and they do poo's all the time, raining down on your head as you kite, and they kill innocent little beavers and children building sandcastles AND they are responsible for global warming and the current economic climate.

FFS pull your long line in, go fishing somewhere else.

Perhaps they are sucking the fat Donkey Balls hangin of the kite their following? What do you fly.. SB2 hmm, yes I do recall seeing a large pair of fat testicles hanging of those kites.

What's it like in dunbga bunga anyway? I know of Dunga Bunga, that's in Pakistan. The gusts over there are like freakin scud missiles eh?

Anyway the question was "which specific kite would be best for me if I like high, floaty boosts?"

Also, something about not wanting a C kite so its a simple question. You would do well and go far not to generalise and judge people you know very little about and to read every question twice.

LOL. Shouldn't you be out in the Pacific somewhere filming your new movie?

I'm just stoked on a great product made by a great company that know how to design and make not only kites but paragliders too. Just passing on the Ozone vibe dude, nothing underhand going on here ball muncher.

As for Kitepower the queue is enourmous, those boy seem to have been busy for way too long with your Mum, and they're holding up all the ball lickers.

Oh well, I guess i'll have to make do stroking my cat and planning world domination... [}:)]

Jimmyz, how is your progression going mate?

If you are already a confident and smooth jumper then you will prob be allright on any kite.
HOWEVER, if you are a typical beginner then you will prob be able to jump, but you are'nt getting much height or distance and you aren't sticking your landings. If this sounds like you then try something with short lines like the Rev.

I used to always fly the kite over the window or not keep the kite moving during a jump, and crash and burn. I jumped on the Rev, it has shorter lines and is a bloody fast kite that sits further back in the window (so it will rarely fly over the window). Since owning the Revs I've improved by leaps and bounds and it jumps BIG.

I cant comment on the Ozone or the North, but I reckon you should think about the shorter lines and a kite that doesnt overfly the window or backstall. The Rev has it licked in this area. I thought you might want to hear from a Rev owner too as its on your list.

Oh yeh, longer lines will get some extra height out of your kite too so extensions on the Rev would make it go higher.

To answer Walshd's question, yeh I'm at the point where I'm getting about 2 in 3 landings nailed, ironically I seem to nail the ones where I jump higher, because I have more time to consider how to place my board on the water. I wouldn't say I'm 100% confident every time I boost yet, but I'm getting there; been practicing every time the wind is up.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I have a good idea of the top four or so boosting kites now . I'm gunna make a point of it to demo a few before I throw a whole lot of dosh at them obviously.

Discalimer - I am a Best rep!

Jimmy - try a nemesis HP if you can also.
I've never been higher than on the 10m.
Or even a 11m waroo pro - amazing jumping machine.

I used to ride rhinos in the good old days too the 10 rhino 2 was a great booster.
Didn't like the rhino when it went sle at all - felt slugguish to me for the size it was. Keen to try an 08 to see if they have improved on it.

Tried last seasons ozone edge too - nice boost and hang but that's about it. Keen top aso try the new one to see if they have improved the handling and flying attributes of them.

There's just something special about performance with the small and hard cuben fibre leading edges on the Best high end kites that the other brands out there can't beat imo. And next season is looking even better!!

But - try them all and make your call.

Good luck.

neilo his T2 would boost higher then the rev. The rev and t2 are very similar, rev is more dynamic and better for surf, t2 has more range and better boosts.
