What a headline grabbing piece of crap.

In theory all those who's life is less important should be throwing themselves off buildings, shooting themselves in the head and basically doing everything in their power to lower the scourge that is the human over population of the earth.

Note, im not into destroying sharks but sensationalistic media is not the answer.

Humans see patterns. Think about the time you have spent in the water since you were little. You know people that have died in car accidents, yet very few of us know an aquaintance that has been taken by a shark. I'm happy to get pleasure from the ocean and know the risks.

Happy to share the cute and cuddly sharks when im in their space. Peace out...

I'm guessing most people wouldn't really want a hurt a shark themselves.

Up to the point where they were in the water, speargun or knife in hand, with a hungry looking shark swimming at them that is.....

Had someone eaten at my local last year - terrible stuff... so super sad

A perfect subject for journalists to sensationalize and sell advertising with.

People still not got any idea of what goes on out in the oceans on mega fishing boats (7 000 000kg of fish per load - sharks and all..) away from prying eyes - basically raping the ocean and not fishing sustainably.

I think people are pretty naive when it comes to hunting, fishing, mass produced meat etc, quick to make opinions, some forgetting they just bought some patagonian toothfish at the supermarket or have been eating slaughter house meat their whole live all packed up neatly like a mars bar, but see someone hunted an antelope which they are going to eat and they want to kill them!

Injured kittens get more attention than starving people sometimes.

Today I hate 5th line, last week I thought it was best thing on earth.

^True.

May I add, once you live on a farm, go/work in a slaughter house and understand what actually happens there you probably couldn't give two f@cks about someone killing a shark or two and it most definitely isn't the top of your all time atrocities of man against wildlife list.
The sea is almost fingered from over-fishing and no one is worried about that, they are just worried about saving the biggest predator that's running out of smaller stuff to eat... real logical.

I don't think anyone is going to say 'shark' over 'human' in response to that question.

Considering that response....and considering that 291 people drowned in Australia last year, whereas 2 were killed by sharks; where do you think the money should be really be spent?

Going after sharks (and interestingly enough, not snagging the species that were supposedly responsible for the 6/7 sharks deaths in WA), or injecting the money into more programs for pool safety, lifesavers, water awareness etc?

So yes - I AGREE - things really need to be put into perspective.

You know why you can go into a modern hospital to fix a broken bone or fly a plan etc? Science and research....not opinions like my mate said this and that.

Listen to expert opinion. They know far more than your neighbour.
