Just started getting out there and wanting to make myself as little a hazard as possible, done the lessons, up and riding and have a 12m kite, any chance you could throw me some info on what the best winds would be for a kite of this size - maybe max & min winds,

Cheers

Hi hajohnstone,

Totally depends on what kite you have purchased, Make model and year of release, and also need to take your body weight into consideration.

As a general rule of thumb, 13-20 knts is a good starting point and this may vary with the above mentioned considerations.

Send more details and we can be more specific.

Good winds,

No worries,

weigh 70-75kg and have bought a 2006 Liquid force 12m kite, had a friend try it out for me the other day and he reckons it is more powerful than his 12 so thought i should check,

Thanks

Hi hajohnstone,

Good stuff, I'd stick to 12-20 knots 'til you know what you are doing. Once you have some experience you may be able to handle it in slightly more wind, but be careful in the upper wind ranges, being a lightweight you'll get over powered easily in gusts above 20 knots.

Good winds,
