Frankston on the bay in Melb - 15:38 this arvo, wind went from 12 to 73 max in a 5 min period - a tad gusty?
All day before this reading it was less than 10 knots and is now back down to this level...kitemare waiting to happen.
I was on Altona Beach when the storm cell hit - from the beachfront carpark, you couldnt see the beach - which is less than 50m away - flash flooding etc - amazing.

A few years ago me and four other kiters experienced a storm front like this out at Rye. I guess you have to have been there, but witnesses say we were lifted 100ft.
We waited for wind all day finally a steady 15kts, we were having a good session, didn't pay attention to the clouds, got hit with 50kts+ onshore. Lucky we were a fair way out, I was on a 2 line 11mt, got hammered. Somewhere I have the wind graph from that day, its off the scale.
Look at the forcasts and the clouds, wierd strong gusts, if in doubt pull the pin
