Ben, we really don't care how much fun you or any other kitesurfer is having. We honestly don't. We do care when kiters gybe in front of us (as has happened to me many times) but when kiters keep their distance then we're happy as a pig in mud, and way too busy trying our latest trick to even consider just how much fun some other beachgoer is having.
Put it this way: Do you care how much fun that 3 year old is having making sandcastles?
Most windsurfers keep their distance due to fear of getting tangled up in lines, so if one is coming close to you then chances are he's trying to tell you something. Were you kiting in an area that's full of windsurfers, with a dedicated 'kiter' spot downwind? Did you try a big air, fluff the landing and put kite lines right across the main drag? (This has happened to me a couple of times up here on the gold coast). If not then it could be a rogue windsurfer with an attitude problem, or it could be that you somehow broke an unwritten local rule. Talk to the locals, and talk to the windsurfer in question if you can. We're a friendly bunch, we'll only bite if provoked
