You can use your LEI to landboard but it may be more prone to damage than a foil - plus foils have a couple of other benefits

You really shouldn't be out on a relatively remote place by yourself anyway - besides I'm sure if you post on Seabreeze there's a heap of crew that would join you and try something new.
You might still need to land at the other end of the salt lake so self-landing skills are still a must. You need much less wind to landboard than in the water so self-landing is less dangerous but still should not to be taken for granted.
It's years since I've been out to the salt lake off Ennis Ave? Rockingham but I believe you need a key to the gate - Neil from HTLK can advise you. It needs to be dried right out too.
