Was not happy to get wind of this latest report for Jervoise Bay, which is home to my local spot, and many others .. Woodies.

They're suggesting that it's ok for people, just don't eat the fish! It's a bit confusing, as they suggest the samples may be taken from near the boat ramp. Do boats dump their loo's there before loading em on the trailor? Is it indicative of where we kite?

There's also the waste recyling plant up the top of the hill, yet I was under the impression it pumped it far far out to sea, past the continental shelf? .. maybe the poo is from the boats?

Anybody got any insights?

Fisheries crew were there yesterday taking samples or something along beach one. I will nick down and see if they are there again today. Maybe get some info straight from the fishes mouth.

My guess is that the high feacal count is from the huge number of kitesurfers who frequent the area responding to the shadows and fins which regularly circle around them as they body drag back to their boards. snm

There are definately plenty of 'blind mullets' and dead sh1ts riding around at Woodies.

So much wind resistance with a melon that big

Keep the brown town there please...

Seriously though that is nasty stuff. Maybe get onto the EPA or whatever they are called these days for some info?

The Woodman Point Wastewater Treatment Plant has two outfalls, the first a couple of km's offshore from Point Peron (known as the Sepia Depression Ocean Outfall) and a second (supposedly emergency use only) at Jervoise Bay.

The Jervoise Bay outfall is inside the marina area, it was constructed before the marina was built.

Perhaps the supposed emergency outfall is leaking?

Tributyltin, is mostly used in marine anti-foulant paints, it's pretty nasty stuff. And no one wants to swim in poo...
