Had quite a few problems here too. I have been broken into 3 times with various stuff being knocked off.

I have bought a key safe which fits a computer and all the bits we need to cart about . It sits on the floor behind the driver seat attached to 3/8 chain and padlocked around both front seat mounts .

Seems a bit of overkill but I can confidently lock up my stuff - the car can be broken into and unless they have a bloody great set of bolt cutters or an angle grinder but I will still have my stuff

I use a combination lock box attached to the tow point on the car for putting my keys into, has anyone ever had these compromised?

I never take my wallet with me, but i do take $40 or $50 of notes in my boardies pocket just in case. Can kite all day and never know its there.

^they can be broken open with a hammer, especially easily when on the tow point as they can get a good swing at it.

They also essentially advertise you being out on the water, as kiters and surfers etc are the main users of these.

I use a lock box but lock it out of view in a place where they cant swing at it.

Heres a funny story from Mullaloo. Last year I (my 'mate') drove home from kiting (i live 400m away from beach but it was cold) and the bank called telling me someone just tried to use my credit card.

I walked out the front to see my rear quater panel window smashed. Anyway they stole my wallet, coins, and various other little things. Oh they also stole a little tin with some of underoaths magic herbs.

So they spent 25 (assume on smokes) at BP and then went to Dominos where they acted weird (stoned) and were caught using my credit card.

The worst part was calling the police and explaining my car was broken into and I did not have a licence. (my 'mate' drove btw)

Lessons learned for the day, dont leave valuables in the car, and leave enough dope to slow them down. you know they will smoke it!

I too had my car broken into at Trigg 3rds yesterday - must have come out of the water just after Glug had reported his break in / theft to the cops.

Got to my car after washing off and noticed that my glovebox and centre console was open - went around to the other side of the car the b@stards had jimmied my drivers side lock to get it. Rifled through the car and borrowed to never return my 1 week old iPhone5S... had another kite and surfboard in the car which they didn't appear to be interested in.

Nothing of value visible from the outside and also have (or now had!) a usual hiding spot for phone, wallet etc but the crackers must have had a similar idea.I don't usually take a wallet down for that reason, but that's not always practical. Unlucky but lucky this time. To me it's the frustration, inconvenience and time lost to sort out the new phone, cards, car repairs etc rather than the material loss itself, which of course also sucks big sweaty balls...

Was also parked at the front row, right next to the pedestrian / cycle path about 4 bays down from the shower. At that time on a summery Sunday, there's a fair amount of foot or bicycle traffic going past, so they must have been pretty efficient to hit a couple of cars without anyone noticing.

Thanks to the fellow kiter that lent me his phone to call the cops to report it. He was parked 3 cars down from me with some valuables in the car but was lucky they got cars either side!

Trigg sounds like it is getting worse. I have a friend that had his car stolen while going for a surf a few months ago.

Yesterday I told my story of being broken into to my admin girl at work. She told me that just before new years she was having a swim at trigg and saw some lads take off with her bag left on the beach. The guys were mid 20s aboriginal. She chased them down and ended up in a tug of war with them. By now some people came to help so they bolted. She got the rego of their car and reported it. The police said the car was registered to a guy in mirabooka- same place my phone last registered. . Same guys?

Doubt the cops will do anything about it.
