Not a bad kite for your conditions, Price depends on condition, but waroos were cheaper than average to start with so the secondhand price should also be lower than average.
I started on C kites when I was learning. They were oldish and cheap enough for me at the time. But after about 6 months I got onto a 06 Waroo. (I was lucky, I got my 9 metre for $500 with bar and lines.) My progress has been a lot quicker with the bow kite. (not saying that I wont ever fly C-Kites again, Cos I think they have their ....time will tell)
But the waroo has been heaps easier to learn with. Huge wind range, and massive depower compared to my old gear. Even when it's really gusty, the kite just seems to handle it with ease rather than pulling me off my feet.
I think a lot of people dont like the idea of BEST kites. Personally I havent been involved in the sport long enough to get involved in the politics (cos there seems to be a bit of it!) but for the price I think they are pretty hard to beat.
Anyway, there is a lot of second hand gear out there at the moment. And kites dont weigh much, so you could consider buying gear from anywhere in Australia and get it posted. But it's a buyers market..... so keep that in mind (it's not easy to get rid of second hand gear) Make an offer and see how you go.
