Hello all,
Does any one know what the kiting is like in yamba NSW, or are there any good places around it. What kind of winds do you get around there in january to february. Going on a kiting/visit family trip down that way from North Queensland.

I'm sure Yamba's tops, nice summer NE winds, even some waves!

Hi Satan [}:)],

Jan and Feb will be fishing or surfing in the morning and kiting until it hurts in the afternoon.

Generally old Beelzebub, "prince of the devils" the wind kicks reliably after 2pm most regularly NE during summer. I've found it reliably over 15 knots near every hot sunny day.

You'll find old 'Spirit that now Worketh in the Children of Disobedience', Pippy beach will be the highlight, I recon. Can hold a bit of swell, especially if there is a storm out at sea. Excellent lefts.

And while you're down there old Nick, Angourie back-beach might be a very pleasant secluded area for the kite as well. Steer clear of the surfers though as this was where the infamous fight Nat Young had with another local and broke his Shnoz (perhaps you know too much about this mischief already Chief Spirit of Evil and Adversary of God).

Now you old serpent, there is one other spot that as an old windsurfer was way cool. Whiting Beach. It's on the inside of the Clearance River. It gets real smooth behind a rock wall and the wind is a little stronger due to a funelling effect. This may be too difficult to find and perhaps v difficult to launch from Whiting Beach during summer (peak periods).

Oh...as LotofWind suggests Iluka too has open beaches and nice waves with some points with left and right breaks. Wicked! My unfamiliar Diabolos.

Constant enemy of God, enjoy the night life, go to the Pacific hotel for a beer during light time, a view all salt dogs enjoy!

Smiles,
Rod.

There are only three regular kiters at Yamba. Two brothers who own the BP Servo at Maclean and their mate. Great Guys.

Kited with them at Pippys Beach. Excellent in a Northerly and also had a session at Whiting Beach. Best launching spot is to follow the dirt/sand track past the Seafood Restaurant if you have a four wheel drive. The beach there is narrow but it is a great place to kite. Get working just behind the low rock wall in the middle of the river. Its only about 2 foot high and the water behind it is just like glass.

Will be down there kiting on 9th 10th and 11th of December.
