Port Douglas works better than Yorkeys the more South the wind is. Port Douglas has a great set up you can ride the flat water beside the reef or go for a downwinder along four mile beach and get some wind swell along the way. Our water at Yorkeys turns brown pretty quick and many find this a little disconcerting.

We have had a fair bit of rain this year so many of the locals are hoping this is a good indicator for the season ahead, I have no idea but I like to agree with the salty dogs and then bag the hell out of them when they get it wrong.

I suppose from what I have said that Port is better than Yorkeys but Yorkeys is my local and I wouldn't swap it for the world, my red neck was fading but the south easters are coming and I can see the rosey colour returning already.

Mid July should should see you kiting in windy, sunny and fabulous 'crystal clear' brown water conditions at Yorkies (you listening there Huey??? last couple of years have been a bit of a let down!!!!)

Make sure if you come up this way that you kite Yorkies and Port Douglas as they both can be great locations and are only about 30 minutes drive apart.

hey Boxburg, long time no see, where you be hiding?

When I haven't been skulking around public toilets, I've been getting the occasional session out the front of the house on the skimmer - but hasn't this off season been truly off?
Terrible conditions with all this rain and stuff.

Hey Gumby,

Maybe we need to burn something as a sacrifice to the wind gods, I would like to register my vote for burning a 13m green and red 2007 fuel.

hey boys just struggling down here on the sunny coast - not great wind but have been riding, the river mouth at caloundra is really cool with the strong out going tide
i have just got myself a slingy surfboard so today i begin my wave riding career. Nice blue clear water is a real treat -
plus doing lots of surfing , lifes tough but I will have do some work in the next 4 weeks or so.
The riding in the nats was pretty good esp the juniors ... cheers Bruce x

Damn, clear water and no stinger suit. I would give my right testicle, oh can't give my right testicle cause my misses keeps it wrapped in tissue paper in her hand bag. But if I had anything of any real value I would definately give it to be able to kite in these conditions.

Glad to here you are enjoying yourself, who am I kidding I want your next tale to be of misery and woe.

hey Bruce, you keep bragging and I have a feeling you might end up with a bunch of Yorkies boys and girls coming down and crashing out at your place during the summer!!!!

Clear sunny skies here (about time!) today and the forecast is for 20 to 25 knots for the next 3 to 4 days, so all the locals will be hitting to 6 inch surf in the muddy brown water!!!

come on, the river mouth is good as with all those natural kickers surounding the flat water. Also the topless back packers are a added extra.

Not so sure bout the topless backpackers nothing worse than pitchin a tent when youve got a stinger suit on and boardies its a recipe for a foreskin injury or a torn peritinium, (had to google that one).

We may have to organise a covert operation to sink that dredge, I don't like what they done to the sand bank on the Holloways side.

Nah mate, the river mouth is not like it was when you were last up here a few months back. The river mouth has just been EXACUTED!!! and as for the topless girls, well the closest thing to that was when cammck became rebellous went all pink on us but he has since straightened up (apparently)

We had a good twenty knots today so I kited up to the mouth for a flat water session and the dredge has pumped ALL the sand from the bar that gave us the protected flat water. They have absolutely ruined the river mouth as we know it! The locals are going to be mighty pissed off as it was really taking a good shape for this year.

Did you know that it is called a Yorkeys "Knob" as it was never "big enough" to amount to anything significant such as a hill, bump, knoll, crest or even a mound! So you be proud of your "knob"
