"Your keeping up your bad reputation on the water!!"

You're showing your poor use of the written language.

OK, I'll bite. What did the naughty, nasty, horrible and inconsiderate people do mike?

Gee, looks like the spelling and grammer police are here.
azza, (hardly proper english) I was nearly taken out by a kiter, who had no idea I was there, then while standing in shallow water had a kite crash land no more than a few feet away.

I find it totally amazing that kiters seem to have no respect for other people on and in the water. These are not isolated incidence. Kiters in general seem to have no idea.

All just the usual banter about grammar etc mike, don't take it to heart; it's all some of us can do, to use a spell checker.

I was at Pinnaro recently and noticed that most of the sailboarders launch from a spot that is directly downwind of the kiteboarding school. I'm sure that this could be considered a contributory factor to your weekend of kite dodging woes.

Also of note was how late the wind has been "coming in", the past two days especially, this means that anyone on a port tack (heading out) has a face full of the low sun. Being low sun, it reflects heavily off the chop, occasionally blinding anyone looking into it. It's a wild guess, but were you heading back in when you were "nearly taken out by a kiter"?

I think windsurfers at Pinnaroo point in general seem to have no idea. There I was a few weeks back with a rank beginner so we went downwind of all the kiters and the windsurfers as well. No sooner had we gotten on the water than the windsurfers drifted downwind to envelope us. After she managed to get back to the beach way downwind and sort herself out we moved up to the now formed gap between the windsurfers and kiters. As soon as we get there and start rigging up the windsurfers came back and started laying their stuff all over the beach all around us again. Not to mention their poor spelling/grammar. I say muskets at dawn.

Saudi Mike, have a yarn to the kite instructors on the beach front, (the ones with the microphones on the helmets) most of the kite users know them, and listen to their point of view.
These guys can help with getting the word out that they are getting into an area that may cause some form of accident or a bubble if somebody gets a tad pi...d off.
Having instructors teaching, indicates there will be a number of raw newbie’s, up to a level of some control, trying to master the kite game. Mixing that with novice windsurfers is always going to be an accident waiting to happen

What would your favourite tipple be at dawn then? I think I'll go the bloody marys, always good to take the edge off and get your daily vitamins in one go. There's always vitamin beer too, can often go well with cereal and toast. Actually that reminds me of a parish priest where I grew up, he used to have whiskey in his cornflakes.

Hi Guys,

We are "the instructors with the microphones on our heads" and we work on the beach everyday. Most of the kiters know us but during this time of year the locals and regulars make up only about half of the numbers.

It's still silly season and I think that last weekend was one of the worst as heaps of people went back to work and they were getting in their last water time before going back to the daily grind. Loads of people desperately tryig to crack staying upwind meant unusually large numbers of people walking with shame. This works as long as everyone stays in the rotation and take their turn but not everyone respects this scenario and feel they can do as they please and in the process inconvenience everyone not just us.

The unofficial areas are dogs off leashes south of the point, kiters from the point down to the access road onto the beach, windsurfers are 100m further north at the first walkway and a further 100m north is the start of the jet ski area. Problem has been when the wind comes in late that even jet skiers hate jet skiers and tend to keep away from each other and nestle into our zone, windsurfers get lonely and come up to be in the community feel of the point and then we have our school in the midst.

It's all good again now, everyone back at work the beaches are sane again , until next weekend

I think by the various postings that it is the same all over the country at all of the kite beaches .... except Esperence where you have to fight off 12 foot sharks in muddy brown water in no wind after fighting through crowded beaches with no swell.

Good winds and thank god the silly season is over.

Saudi Mike, there ya go, Kitehard one of the blokes who gives a sh1t, and keen to keep it all neat and tidy for both groups.
New he would, they are a pretty good bunch down there (gee did I say that, I don’t even kite)
If ever I get the urge to take up kiting, he's the one I will be working with got all his sh1t in one bag and not one to hide but will put his hand up to help. Thanks Dazza (just had to add that last bit A)
