Arived at my local beach yesterday to be greeted by an ambulance. some inexperianced beginers blatant disregard for mother nature has left him with a nasty broken leg . this sport can be very dangerous !! make sure beginers are taught by quality instructors .saving a few bucks on lessons is not worth a broken leg or worse

Hard call on your behalf Strez...... "blatant disregard" if you weren't there and offer no mitigating evidence!

True, unless you can tell us what happened keep your assumptions to yourself.
It`s not just the inexperienced that get hurt. Experienced motorcross riders, skydivers, racing drivers, surfers, skate boarders and kiteboarders also have accidents. It happens in sports. Maybe he did make a mistake causing the accident, then we would like to know and learn, biginer or not biginer.

Sorry blatant disregard is probably an over exaggeration SHEAR STUPIDITY is probably a better term although how much responsibility you can lay on the ignorant who can say . maybe the person who sold him the kite forgot to tell him to get lessons and how dangerous it can be to have your first fly in 30 kn. gusty wind . and sure accidents will happen but plummeting back to earth because of inexperience and having to face the possibility of losing the lower half of your leg is an accident that could have easily avoided

for those of you who want gory details
how it started i haven`t found a reliable witness but it ended up with him landing on the sand next to one of the locals at a high enough velocity to snap his leg resulting with bone protruding just below his knee and just above his ankle . now i dont know about you but i`m glad i didn`t see it

yeah strez,I dont think anyone was after gory details, just wanted to know what mistake he made.
sounds like no lessons and not knowing how much power a kite has.
The thing is,if he bought a kite off ebay or out of the papper,he could have had know idea how dangerous it can be without lessons.
I know when I first saw someone kiteboarding I didnt think there was a chance of bad injury, just looked like alot of fun.

I think we all have to look out for the newbies, you can usually spot someone who hasnt any idea.Usually when the pull out the instuction manual when trying to work out how to attatch lines.

Only takes five minutes to walk over, say g'day, have a chat and give a bit of advise. Most will be gratefull.
