12mm waterproof ply - as in not Marine Grade, but close enough.
Strapped it to the work bench, wet it and ironed the crap outta it (owe my sister a new iron now!) this gave the board a little bit of rocker, I'd say about 10mm, just enough really..
Made some fins out of a chopping board from the kitchen, used the base plate and straps from my old board which was a faily simple process, drilled straight through the boars and put those threaded T nuts in the underside (just visible in the pic of the bottom of the board below) pulled a handle out of an old lancer I think, as seen in the top pic below...

Overall I am pretty stoked with the way it rides, only change I'll do when it's time for Version 0.2 will be not having the chiseled ends of the board.... they sometimes catch the water and send the board for a dive.... once you get used to it tho it's ace! had a mate ride it too and it worked for him too! So I'm not kidding! over all the board cost under $100 to make!

Hey nah the bindings are hyperlite byerlies, we used 3 layers top and bottom of carbon, rides really well cos its so stiff gets up on the plane like that *clicks fingers* only had one run with the kite though... damn valve problems

My brother and I made a board using "Fitzys" board-building method.(www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20932&SearchTerms=Board,builders)

We used 4mm ply, sanded one layer of ply off, then laminated two pieces together around a foam core. We copied the shape of a "Naish Sol" board. We clamped the board to a rocker table while it was in the vacuum bag and the epoxy was going off.

We also made our own fins out of aluminium, using a CNC milling machine. The board is lighter than the production board, and rides almost as well. It seems a little bit slower, but very comfortable through the chop (maybe too much concave in the bottom, or extra flexing of the ply).

Anyway, now that we are set up, it costs around $60 dollars to build a board (excluding foot pads and staps). Must thank "Fitzy" for doing all the research and design, and producing an easy method to make cheap, strong, and light boards.

The board itself weighs about 2kgs.With fins and pads etc its abit over 3kgs.The fins are twice the weight of normal fins so we could save a bit weight by buying fins but we are tight arses and free is best. You would have seen my brother on the board at Brighton as I still haven't tried the board out yet.
