I have started trying backloop and am almost killed myself a couple of times... this is what I am doing,
speeding along, slowing down a bit, edging, redirecting the kite, as I am about to lift off I am throwing myself backwards (mostly by sending the board backwards on its edge and my body following ) , I get air and am half spinning nicely but as I am facing backwards I am being yanked backwards in a G force manner.... landing on back and winded. I assume I am doing an unintentional kiteloop.....
I have heard I should take my back hand off the bar, but I cant see to do this , and send the kite nicely....
Are you trying to do a backroll or a backroll kiteloop? If your going for a backroll then don't redirect the kite at all. Just leave it at 45? or slightly higher if you need more time whilst learning. Load just like you would for a load & pop but as you pop just carve upwind at the same time. The last minute extra carve upwind will start your rotation and the pop will give you the height to allow you to rotate.
Check out this Kiteworld link for a step by step with pics. http://www.kiteworldmag.com/intermediate/hooked-in-back-roll/
edit: I only have my back hand on the bar for backrolls but i put two fingers either side of the depower rope to stop me from steering the kite whilst rotating.
dont start the rotation until after you leave the water, will be more controllable. so do a sent jump get free from the water then rotate.taking off your backhand helps alot, keep hands close to centre of the bar aswell
yeah, sounds like u stear the kite far too much back. keep both hands quite in the middle of the bar and as u start rotating try to stear the kite forwards again. it feels like u stear it ways too strong than. but u wont. this might help as well..
