Hey,

After some recommendations for 2009 bandit dos quivers for year round WA conditions.

I'm at the end of my second season and weigh around 75kg, freeride/freestyle type riding on a 132 Jamie pro.

Should i go for a 10/7 or would a 12/8 be better? I want to be able to kite from 13-14 knots on the 132 if possible. Generally kite around metro beaches so rarely gets above 30 (constantly)
Im thinking up to 20 knots on the 12 and then change to the 8.
How much more realistic low end does the 12 have than the 10?

Ive ridden the 9m in marginal conditions and thought it had less low end than my 9m Rev, but could have been the way i was flying it.

Thanks

Go for the 8-12m the 10 m would strugle a bit under 14kts with just the one board. But for maximum windrange the 14-9 would suit from 9 to 34 kts, the 14m is a light wind machine turns quick and will have you ridding frestyle moves in 12kts. The kites always feel like they are well powered up but you always seem to get a bit more depower out of them than what you would think.

Your lucky at your weight as most wind range charts are for people that weigth 75kgs. So jump on the f one site and check out the chart to see what they recomend for min-max rangewww.f-one.world/

The actual differance in bottom end between the 12-10m isnt that much on paper they will both get you ridding but depending on what style of riding you are doing te 12m will power up sooner for jumping etc, but the 10m would be better in the surf with its faster turning in the bottom of there windranges.

good to see more dos riders out there

hi there, i am riding 10 dos as my 1 kite quiver and weigh 70 kgs, absolutely loving this kite, windrange for me is just planing around 12 -14 knots and have had it out in 25-30 knots no worries just by changing knot above depower cleat and am riding 129 x 39cm f-one demon 2 board, i really think either combination will be a great option but dont know if bottom end of 12 will get you going much earlier than 10 and a little slower too i think, these kites rock boost big , unhooked riding awesome and incredible windrange and build quality, have fun with whatever quiver you get you wont be dissapointed, cheers rob

I can confirm what Rob states about the 12 not having that much better bottom end than the 10.
The Dos 10 is definately an all round winner for lighter riders in my opinion.

I have both the 10 and 12 Dos's, they both have their place but the 10 seems to get pulled out more.

My weight - 79kg
Board - nobile T5. 134x 41 or naish 136 haze

Have fun, Chris.

just depends if you want to buy 1 or 2 kites. The 10m is definatly the best all round 1 kite quiver but definatly get 2 for the maximum sweet spot, especialy for unhooking, they will pull your arms off........awsom.

It will be a 2x kite quiver. Thinking that the 12 and 8 will be best for WA, even though i seem to remeber that the M8 guys where say that a 7/10 is the most popular in WA.

Yes the 10 will be faster, but i want to be powered in the lower ranges (15-16 kts)

And remember most of the time in summer in WA i will be on the 8m (20+)

I did see the chart on the Fone site but you can never really rely on marketing hype. Thanks for additional info waxman.

I am 75kg and my one kite quiver is a 9m. Trust me in 15-16 knots you'll be having to pull on at least half of the depower strap on the 12m Bandit. I would probably go with what M8 has recommended.

The 12m gets me going in 10-11knots, but I'm way overpowered as soon as it hits 20.

Especially judging on this season, I'd you'd want a 10/7 quiver (of course depending on what style of riding you like).

We've got DOS's available for demo whenever the wind is good, down in Safety Bay.

Skinner,

Ive got a 10/7 quiver with last years 15m for the light stuff. I live in hong kong but travel regularly . I weigh 90-95kgs and ride a 135 underground flx 2008 model

I would say that im up and riding in 14 knts on my 10m.The local guys here have started saying that its "magic", admittedly this is on pretty flat water. From 18-28 knots this kite really comes into its own . Ive tried the 12m a few times and found that it doesnt really have a much better low end than the 10 but its sweet spot lies between 15-20knts.

Obviously try and take them out for a demo in the marginal stuff. Just an fyi , i had ure exact dilemma a few months ago and the guys on this forum really helped me out so its worth listening to them.

Enjoy!

i guess it really depends on when i want to use the larger kite.

The 12 will be a light wind weapon, but soon as it picks up above 18kn or so it will be too much, where as the 10 will be used for those 16+ days and in reality could be a one kite quiver, although i think once it starts hitting 23-25 (as it often does here in wa) switching to a 7 would be best.

i doubt the 12 would be used at all in summer here in wa.

i see the benefit in building a quiver around the perfect kite/size for your conditions and weight.
