Have heard Aaron's doing barefoot across Caloundra passage.
Any one got any footage? Would love to see it

No need to go to Caloundra to see barefoot kiting. There is a kiter from Kurnell on Botany Bay been doing it for a few weeks. Gets super fast speed on the flat water of Quibray Bay then steps off his board and continues barefoot for a few hundred metres. Have actually seen him hit a kicker and get airborne. Never lands though , always comes down in a superman. Very awesome to watch. Saw him being videod the other day but don't know the photographer.
Anyone know the picture man.

Nothing new. Saw Tom Herbert, Airush pro rider, doing it a couple of seasons ago.
Beach tack, he would take his board off, barefoot for a while, then put his board back on. I think his was some sort of world class barefoot skier before kiting.
Looks way cool anyway.

I can barefoot behind a boat and I'm telling you there is NO way you can barefoot off a kite... I see no web links to prove anybody actually doing it also.

I can fake this dodgey photo...
Here we go,,,,
1. Get some speed up
2. kick the board off as ya send the kite.
3. Snap a few times
4. then hey preto barefooting has never been so easy!

FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND!!

I'd be able to even get some pics of me and my mates bare face kiting too!!! Bare ass kiting may also be attempted.

OOOHH WHAT A RUSH!!

Don't you need to be doing around 65k's (40mph) to barefoot? Also, you'd have to be going down wind as there is not much edging done when barefooting.

I'm in the "I'd like to see footage" camp

To this comment

"he would take his board off, barefoot for a while, then put his board back on. "

sniff sniff.... hmmmm I smell bull**** in the air. Where the FCK did he put his board while he was barefooting!!!!!!!!! COMEON stop the claiming. Maintaining barefoot speed flying a kite with one hand and his dick in the other ey.

I have barefooted since I was 10 years old and my cousin is Australian U18 champion. I guess it would be possible (anything is) to barefoot behind a kite however like all the other skeptics here I need video footage. To barefoot you need glassy conditions and consistent pull OVER 40kph (the slowest I can foot at is 46kph). It is possible to foot with shoes on at 25kph and even slower with bigger shoes but not BAREfoot. To get enough speed you would need a LOT of wind, that wind would make the conditions choppy even 1m away from a sandbank.

while I would need to see the footage to believe the barefoot bit for more a couple of meters I have seen the sequence photos in the 2006 airush catalogue of one of the guys doing a low altitude board off transition that involved him scooting his feet across the water for about 4 meters as the kite went over his head before quickly powering up the kite long enough to hover abit and put the board back on.

I wasn't berfooting like behind a boat because the kite was supporting his weight, not the water.

I'm sceptical, you need over 45 kmph to barefoot as previously mentioned. I can go alot slower on my shoes. That clip is a little suspect in its credibility... watch it closley, and I mean real closely and you may see what I mean...

I see what u mean with ur post now, i thought u meant dropping it like you drop a ski, however its only in a whip not going across the passage.

It is also really important to consider whether the barefoot kiteboarder has clipped or unclipped nails and also footsize and weight should be factored in to whether 'claiming it" is really genuine

Here's some footage taken in WA, the closest thing I think you could get to barefoot with a kite,

Rider: Damo

At least there's no one bitching about strapped or unstrapped in this thread.

it's not about "keeping it real" it's more like "is it real??"

Unfortunatly people not one of those videos is barefooting. More like breifly skimming

THE KITE IS SUPPORTING THE RIDERS WEIGHT !!!! NOT THE WATER

as sandman said

Yeah I think I have done this bare thing... but it would have been called by others as bareface kiting... really doesn't look all that good!
