I have a DaKine Hawaii Fusion seat harness, and it's very comfortable- The only problem with this harness, is that no matter how tightly I seem to do up the spreader bar before I get out, and tighten it when I'm out there, it always loosens and comes up, resulting in sore bruised ribs If someone can find a solution for this, I'd be extremely greatful!

material loosens up when its wet.

when the kites overhead pull down on on the chicken loop line and just tighted the straps with the other hand. or unhook and just hold the chicken loop with one hand above you and tighten.

First methods easier if you have a donkey dick to stop you geting unhooked. You can pull the spreader bar over to the side to tighten it up easier.

ive got the new Naish harness which comes with a prolimit spreader bar and it is awesome. It fits tight, its strong, simple and easy to use.

Ive ridden both Dakine and Prolimit harnesses and personally i would definitely go the Prolimit. Nothing beats the prolimit spreader bar! And ive found that its cheaper than the Dakine by quite a bit.

Cheers

I've had the opposite experience with the pro limit spreader bar!
Most that I've seen get disabled with a cable tie to avoid false releases.

If you prefer a seat harness, the Nitrous is excellent!
The only shop that has them I've seen on online in oz is KP.

Dakine Fusion Seat is magic. NO pressure points, no pressure taken in groins, spreader bar doesnt move an inch, doesnt get loose - its like it isnt there !!

Elizabeth - perhaps you have a harness a size too big - or arent ratcheting it tight enuf before going out.

I've ridden till well overpowered with mine and it doesnt ride up at all.

OK

I just went thru the process of trying on every harness Kitepower had on offer (SEAT).

I ended up setteling on the new Dakine Fusion Seat harness.

The harness has no pressure points at all around the genitalia area, which is what i wanted. very very cumphy, there a ton of buckles to tighten to get it to suit your body. The lower back support around the kidneys is awsome, very stiff and nice, with a big pad on the inside of the harness. When done up well the spreader bar doesnt twist or more in any direction , and the harness has a system like the waist harness to do up them huge velcro belts across the tummy, and keeps the spreader bar low.

Now the Dakine Nitros harness it AWSOME, i really wanted them they are very very simmlar to the fusion harness, using the same design leg suppors and bum style seat, all hidden inside the shirts, but the ONLY DOWNSIDE which made me buy the fusion was the spreader bar on the nitros shorts twisted the whole bar pad and bar into my tummy, digging in and being uncomfertable, like a few other seat harnesses tended to do. I have no idea if when wet, you can get it to do up more and prevent this. But this is only a personal thing and other than that there very much like the fusion with out the high back support. There also only $10 more than the fusion :D

Hope this helps Check ya Macca

Ok I'l give you the low down on the Dakine Nitrous Harness... I've been using one for over a year now... I'l never go back to a regular seat harness again...

The hook/spreader bar is dropped down to your hips, best place for it in kiting, seeing as the hips are the basis for all control in kiting, it's where you get the power from. Another bonus for having the spreader down on your hips is it's away from your ribs. If you have not broken any ribs yet you dont know the pain and frustration I'm talking about. I know you probably thinking seat harness's crush your man hood (not sure what they do to the fairer sex, but it cant be good !) Well Dakine has solved that problem as there is an additional strap inside the shorts where all the straps are hidden. This strap pull's your butt cheeks together and prevents even the most horrific of wedgee's.

When your wearing a pair of Nitrous shorts you dont feel like your wearing a harness at all, just a pair of shorts. I dont know about your but in summer just heading out in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt gives you so much freedom. There is absolutly no pull like you experience on either a regular seat harness or a waist harness, the harness stays where it is suppose to be. And In winter wearing a wetty under your Nitrous shorts, just feels like your wearing a wetty...

The quality of this harness is excellent as always from Dakine. It comes with a hook knife in the pocket on the leg, Which is also very good for keeping a key to your car in... There is two rings you can hook you leash onto or either make up a handle pass leash to fit which I did as I did not want to wreck the handle that came with it...

I know of a shop in Perth that sell's them, I would also reconmend getting the power clip for the spreader bar...

Cheers Mr Plow - The velcro strap that does up across the front, used to fit comfortably, and now it's too big when I do it up... It doesn't seem to tighten up fully, so I'll go in search of a new seat harness... Glad to have this topic on DaKine vs. Naish vs. Prolimit- Will try them out ... 'S' harness now to an 'XS' That's what kiting does to you! lol

My prolimit spreader bar never released accidentally in years of use.. in fact now I've got a new bar I'm going back to it. I think the key is to click it in hard when doing it up. In real terms it only saves about 2 seconds taking your harness off but it means no threading the webbing thru the loop when you're putting it on, you still have to loosen it but it's definitely easier.

IMHO the best way to stop sore ribs from a waist harness is... to wear an impact vest! The bump n jump one has a specially made flat pad for the harness to rest over, cushioning for the ribs , flotation, and a camelback which is just the best thing ever.. taking a drink break without leaving the water is a real luxury.

I got an impact vest just for using with my small kite, after two injuries from bad landings in strong winds, but from the first day I used it I've never been out without it. It just does so many good things it's an integral part of my kit now.
