Hey

Can anyone recommend the best place to kite on east coast in march and april. Consistant winds and decent waves (but not too big). Going to be working in Brsibane but will have car to travel around with.

thanks

Not much on offer in March and April.
Winds are very light.Starting to turn to the dominant winter direction,West. Which is offshore on the East coast.

I believe there are good flat water westerly spots near Brisbane. A local will need to fill you in.

You can go North for trade winds, but it is a long way from Brisbane!

All along gold & sunny coast u have many great spots for both surf n flat. Brissy has a few flat spots too, tho water quality n jellies may put a few off. Give us a yell when u get here, most welcome to show u around n kite with our team!

Thanks padi

I will definitely post here when I get to Brisbane. If I bring just one kite what should it be? 12m Rebel or 9m Raven?

I remember from some surfing I did in Noosa several years ago that there were bluebottle jellies, they hurt a bit but not too bad. Is that what you mean? Or do you mean the more life threatening variety?

Up here all we have to worry about is the cold.

Cheers

We get a few blue bottles n some snottys, they dont just irritate, some people react pretty badly with them, even breathing difficulties! but mainly we get blue blubbers in brissy, they dont sting, but just the lice dat lives on them does. n there r trillions of them some days. normal stinger suit dont work either, the lice r small they get through most standard stinger suits/rashies.

as for size, definitely the 12 over the 9. 14 would be my ideal choice to desert island, but all depends on your weight too hey. im 78kgs n i dont like big massive boards. pm me with ur email addy to stay in touch if wished.

So its on!

Heading to Brisbane in the first week of march. I guess I will bring my 12m kite (biggest) and maybe pick up a cheapie surfboard for light wind. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Padi

I will contact you when I get there. Much appreciated. Oh yeah, I looked up those jellies on the internet. They don't look like much fun at all. What do you do, just don't fall?

Cheers

Scott, there are some great places 3-6 hours drive north of Brissy. That is where the wind will be best around the time you are here. Brisbane still has good wind, but it is getting less consistent by March/April
