Timing is a bit different. i.e. releasing your edge etc. Also, if your new bow kite turns slower than your old C kite then that affects timing too. I hear the Naish kites have good turning speed. Also bow kites have less power through a turn so you have to keep the kite sheeted in through a downloop or transition. When I got my TD it took me about 4 sessions to get used to the differences.

tuning the bar is more critical too as a bow will oversheet and fly like a mongrel when you unhook

Cabrinha Switchblade 2 is the ultimate bow kite, but Ive used them and still really prefer the good old C kites...

I think its pretty interesting. Bows have less power in turns, turn slower, are more expensive, less lifty and need lots of bar input, yet everyone loves them. Why?

IMO:Simple, handles gusts better which means less muscle fatigue, result:more time on the water.

Or am I just getting old, Hhhmmmm

Maybe I should just, "HARDEN THE FK UP"

Do you think they are becoming more popular with people getting into the sport for the safety and depower when learning? Are there many kiters who have been on C kites for quite a few years then change over to Bow style? I couldn't imagine people who have kited for a few years and became quite good kiters then move onto Bows. Guys at our spot that moved onto bows that had been kiting for awhile where intermediate kiters, none of the guys who ride reasonably well went onto bows.

i changed to bows because i couldn't be stuffed using a three kite quiver all in one day when a single bow covers 90% of the wind range.

Trickz!!!!
I would say doing a trick will be the same. The kite pulls ...do a trick... straight forward if you know how....

When you LEARN technical tricks usually you crash a whole lot.
If you arent crashing you aint learning jack shiz.

BOW kites suck big time to completely crash,
therefore they suck arz to learn technical tricks
Anyone with experience has learned this hard fact,

Go a modern devoted 5 liner that relaunches well.

If your a slow learner, still stuck learning how to actually ride by a bow.

I Learnt on a C, changed to a shocwave 'bow' kite and then 3mths later went back to the C. The bow kites IMO are not good for trick freestyle riding, they dont trim properly when unhooking and dont boost big. They have great hang time and float but not the raw grunt of a C kite. If your into wave riding then 'bow' kite is the way to go. But if you want to follow the wake style movement then go C. The latest 'Hybrid' kites are getting closer to the traditional C so in a couple of years they will probably take over as will have best of both worlds....

Anyone that uses a Bow just cant believe that anyone still uses C kites!

Instant relaunch, heaps of instant depower, one kite covers all winds.

I am biased towards surf riding.Maybe flat water dick tricks are a different story.
