I am heading to cairns for a week in late june to hopefully get some sun and kiting, but need some advice on wind conditions. Will a 12m do (i use this in 13-24 knots), or is it worth only taking one pair of clothes, pissing my girlfriend off, and fitting the 9m in the bag as well?
Also, i'm staying at Trinity beach, any kiting there or do i gotta head down to yorkies?
water temp and stinger suits?!?!?!?! (i am from adelaide, we only gotta watch for jaws)
any advice greatly appreciated

You will probably just need the 12 but we do get 25 plus form time to time
my advice is to bring it, if your girl gets too mad there are lots of others here to .........you should postpone trip till 4-9 july and come to kiteweek
lots of things planned as well as some of australia's best riders will be here
check out www.itsextreme.com
for info
trinity beach is not very suitable for kites yorkeys knob is the accepted location
cheers bruce

Hey Gibo,

You won't need a stinger suit, stingers are only from October to May. If you have a kite bigger than a 12 I'd take that in favour of the 9, when we were up there for 2 months a couple of years ago and wind was mostly 12-23 knots so take a 15 if you have one.

Yorkies is pretty much the only place socially accepted to be kiteable. You can also take your missus up to Port Douglas for a few days or even for a day trip and ride at 4 Mile Beach. Just a little further north again is Wonga Beach which has the closest thing to Surf in North Queensland. I rode shoulder high waves all to myself in front of the Wonga Beach Caravan Park.

Going further North, Archer Point just south of Cooktown is the best kiting location in all of Queensland and bloody windy, bring a 9 for sure for Archer. Oh and mind the crocs at Archer!

Have a great trip, good winds,
