You can put your car on a train from Melbourne to Perth - It costs $898 one way.

I can understand your reluctance to do the trip so soon after getting your license but doing the crossing is supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Maybe you can find someone who would be willing to do the trip with you so you have some company in the car and can take turns (that is if you are willing to let someone drive your car!)
Not only that there will be so many beaches to hit up along the way! (Stop at Esperance, go across to Augusta/Margs)
Good luck with your driving test mate!
yer its too expensive to put it on the train really, and then i have to pay for flights as well. looks like I'm driving, just gota find a couple of people to do it with
cheers
