G'day cliffor123
Bleach would not weaken the lines. I remember reading about tests where they put Spectra/Dyneema in full strength Nitric Acid for nearly 2 years, and it only lost 1 or 2% of its strength. It is also basically unaffected by UV light. Thoat does not mean other parts of your bar are unaffected by acids, bleach or UV, like the nylon trim strap, etc.
The only downside to Spectra and Dyneema (both are gel spun polyethylene, which a plastic related to the type plastic used in the thing that holds a six pack of cans together)is that it has a low melting temp, of around 300C, so friction with any other line, especially polyester lines like in kids toy kites, will cut your lines like a hot knife through butter.
I once had my lines cut while buggying by a kids kite I did not see, the kids kite would have been worth about $5, and it sliced through all 4 of my lines in an instant, I hardly felt it, just noticed I had no kite on the end of my lines anymore!!!!
You're not an idiot, IMO, just new, keen and looking for things to do that are kite related when you cannot kite, correct?
The yellowish discolouration of white lines is nothing to worry about. Its usually caused by yellowish water, muddy beaches, etc.
Keeping the lines clean of sand and grit is more important and rinsing the bar and lines in fresh water is all that is needed, dry and keep out of direct sunlight.
