ok this sunday, the 8th Jan 2005... 2pm...

I will bring the slider, the winnings (kite/board/bar)...

It's on a fun comp at woodies point... Format is to be "mambo style"... Judging to be like the previous "SOS" events that have worked so well... No entry fee ! as that would make the event a profit one and thats not what we're about at @#$%... This is to be about fun... All riders have to sign a waiver and will be responcible for their own actions if wishing to ride in the event and/or use the slider... Everyone is invited to ride... There will only be one event, everyone rides together (masters/mens open/womens open/juniors) placing will be 1st, 2nd & 3rd... Prices will be 1st place "kite", 2nd place "board" & 3rd place "pulley bar and lines"...

any suggestions please please place them here... I know it's short notice, but come down for some fun and a laugh...

regards browneee 0404 637 147

Yeah you maybe correct... hum... I know heat's consisting of Four (max) riders for 15mins each heat... Winners goes through to next round etc etc... Looking for best style, trick you know over all kiter with the goods gets through... Use of slider is not manditory but incorperating it into your style may be helpful for the photographer...

Oh yeah I'm going to take my BARBQ down so if you want to have a sausage or two bring some down...

Na sticking with the 2pm start... I will be there from midday on-ward setting up the slider and stuff so any helpers are very very welcome...

I think we should use the middle bay;

  • North bay, may have choicey's school operating ? and its miles away to lug gear also leaves our cars vulnerable.
  • South bay, also may have some learners on it and may be a little onshore for the slider with the wave's and stuff ?(although this is my favorite bay...)
  • Western bay, does not seam to have many learners on it, and it's closer to the carpark for safty of our cars, it's also quite deep to set the anchors for the slider and not too far to lug our gear...

Remember this is for fun...

If it's a fun comp then how about no sponsored riders. Like what are they going to do with a Breast kite or Bust board, sell them? How about giving the up and comers a chance to pick up some free gear and show thier potential without being surounded by the best in the state.
Just an idea.

Senditup, you read my mind... I've been trying to come up with a way to do this...

How about this;

1st = kite
highest placed unsponsored rider = board
highest placed female rider = bar/lines
highest placed junior rider = t-shirt
highest placed masters rider = t-shirt

kite is a 9m grunt...
board is a 124 pro model complete with fittings...
bar is a 45cm pulley model with 27m lines...

oh yeah and all the photo's my photographer will take of you all will end up on the @#$% website...

How about IF the 1ST place getter is a sponsored rider he is required to sell the kite he wins to the highest placing junior at a very very very very good price. i.e. F--k All. A kid strapped for cash is more likely to keep and fly the kite than anyone else. Alternatively even award the kite to the junior anyway...

Now this could really set the cat amongst the pigeons...

Just had a thought... What if the winner of the kite, turn'd around and had a raffle on the beach then and there with tickets say $20 each and the proceeds went to the tsunami disaster fund ?, then he/she would have the bragging rights to winning the comp and donating the winnings to the fund ?

Ok, well the @#$%kiteboarding comp has come and gone for 2005...

What an afternoon, I'm bloody sunburnt to buggery and tired to boot !

First off I would like to thank all the guys that helped setup and pack away;

Wayne aka "mister home brew"
Peter Gold aka "mister barby"
Gavin
Damo
Lance
Ryland
Geoff (tobi's dad)
Dan Roberts

I would like to thank John Woodall for spending the afternoon taking some 150 shots of us all during the event, these will be put on the @#$%kiteboarding.com website as soon as we get them scan'd.

We had 15 riders turn up, which made it pretty easy to sort out the two heats we were going to have. We would take the top three out of each heat and put them in a final...

Judging consisted of points awarded;

1 point for attempting a trick.
2 point's for landing a trick clean.
3 point's for landing a realy specky trick.

In the case of deciders it would be judged on overall impression, grit, determination and guts...

The competitors were; (sorry if i miss spell these)

Dale Stanton
Nick F
Pomi Paul
Ryland Blakeney
Lance Gelden
Browneee
Geoff Penno (master)
Tobi Penno (junior)
Wayne Hancock
Adam Ratajewsk
Shannon Mathews (only female rider)
Daniel Roberts
Simon Wichteraman (junior)
Damo
Roland Gregsun

Results;

heat #1
Dale 11 pointsinto the final
Nick 8 points
Paul 1 point
Ryland 11 pointsinto the final
Lance 11 pointsinto the final
Browneee 8 points
Geoff 3 points(winner of the masters section)

heat #2
Tobi 15 points
Wayne 15 points
Adam 21 pointsinto the final
Shannon 7 points(winner of the ladies section)
Daniel 12 points
Simon 26 pointsinto the final
Damo 21 pointsinto the final
Roland 11 points

The Final
Ryland 22 points Winner
Dale 18 points 3rd
Lance 10 points 6th
Simon 18 points 2nd & winner of the junior section
Adam 16 points 5th
Damo 17 points 4th

Simon & Dale were lock'd in a tie for second place, on looking back through both heats Simon edged out Dale for second due to his gutsy, grity determination...

Prize's awarded were:

9m @#$% Grunt kite for the winner,
124cm @#$% Pro model board complete with fittings for the highest placed unsponcered rider,
45cm @#$% Pulley bar complete with 27m lines for the highest placed female rider,
@#$% T-shirt for the highest placed masters rider and
@#$% T-shirt fot the highest placed junior rider (Simon give me a call to collect it)

So all in all, I had a fantastic time today, I am very thankful to the guys that helped out. I hope everyone had fun and enjoyed them selves. I hope everyone enjoyed the format.

We plan on holding another one of these events again soon...

many thanks browneee 0404637147
