just looking for some advice....
i have recently started learning to jump, but this seems to be greatly hindered by the fact that most times i go to load and pop i almost come out of the footstaps and hence lose board control just before i jump - especially if i am just trying little pops etc.

I have an underground flx 28 - and small feet - about 7-8uk. if i tighten the footstraps more then i find it very hard to get my feet through when on the water. I try to curl my toes up as much as poss but still seem to have the problem.
any suggestions on what i might be doing wrong or any devices that might help - (heel straps? or is this dangerous?)
thanks
Simon

tighten up your straps; it might feel hard to get into at first but your feet should work into them once you ride for a while.

or try making some heelstraps out of old bike tube, they fit better and last longer than factory straps. make sure you use wide tube or you will cut off the blood circulation in your ankles

Stamp is on the money so either make some healies, or Liquid Force sell them and are very inexpensive and comfortable around the back and great for support. You can always just give it a shot.

I have had this problem also. I have small feet ladies size 7 which I think s about a uk5 (not sure why we are talking uk sizes???) I found that you could adjust the footstraps a couple of ways that helped.

Firstly tilt them forwards so that the toes are lower and the ankle part higher. Secondly make them higher and narrower rather than wider and lower.

Part of your problem however is probably nothing to do with the foot straps and will go away with time. When you are trying to pop you are probably not edging hard enough upwind and therefore when you try and pop you are not in the right position and the board is being ‘pulled’ off.

I think it might be the way you are poping your jumps. I used to have very loose straps and could still jump and there are heaps of people jumping surfboards and skimboards strapless.
Perhaps you are letting the kite pull you upwards to much and not poping yourself upwind enough. Make sure you jump up wind with the board and that your back foot is the last to leave the water. the nose should almost point into the wind when you leave the water.
I hope this helps i am no expert but my advice is FREE.

Heya Dude.
I too had the same problem and i have large feet. I tried adjusting width, height, tightness etc.. I think it just came down to weird shaped feet. So i made heel buddies out of tyre tube like stamp said. Some things you should consider though.
Get the wide tube but get the thick mountain bike stuff too. Doesn't tear as easy. Make sure its tight enough to keep feet in but loose enough to kick feet out of if running into peril. Found that out the hard way.

Hope it helps. Good winds.

I have high insteps and its a bugger I tell thee - can I buy shoes? hell no.

It took me a few years to figure this out, but I have my straps attached to the holes closest to the pad centreline - this will give you grip right round the side of your feet instead of just the top. Easy.

it might be that you have straps designed for larger feet. by this i mean they follow longer contours. the only time i have the board come off is in a very hard landing eg kiteloop with the board way to fall in front of me.
even with the straps very tight i can sqirm my way into them even when jumping on the board without problems. airush straps suk...

try getting some really squishy pads so that they push ur feet up into the footpads, I have ****ty pads and i couldnt be bothered buying new ones so i made the footstraps pinch in on the sides of my feet. this has really helped. also try waxing ur pads if they r to slipery. u could also try twinsting ur feet outwards tilting ur toes upwards when you jump.

hope u get it wired

I found looser straps worked for me. I can ditch the board if it all goes poo coloured, and when i jump i twist my feet out a little duck style.

I would thunk tight for flat water and loose or strapless for big air and waves.
