Doh! That snuck up on us! .. last year every state was different, and towards the end of the month .. now all the eastern states have agreed to the "First Sunday of October"; WA is on the 26th October

Yes - graphs reflect local time.

Hang on just a minute , did I miss something
I was under the impression that we were trialing for 3 years this one being the last year but still wasn't a referendum supposed to be held in 2009 to decide whether it should become permanent or not , it's not finalised yet is it????

Anyway your probably right even so as WA are on planet unto there own on subjects such as this and anything that spells advancement, oh well it's been great while it lasted

Bring on Daylight savings.

I will be voting yes in any bl**dy referendum that is for sure!

I love being able to kite after work & I love the fact that my kids don't wake me up at 5:000am when it gets light in the mornings!

Come on you guys we have to lobby everyone we know!

This thread is SO funny !

You would think that a smart country like OZ would have daylight saving in every state!!

reminds me of my younger days on the Goldie Coast, when we used to shoot across the border to get another hour's drinking in !

Not to mention New Years !!

I've done the same thing User!!! It is crap that we can't all have daylight savings!! It also means that I have to be at work an hour earlier in summer because of the other states being on daylight savings, but I still have to stay until 5 because Qld doesn't have daylight savings. And I don't get paid overtime

Im sorry but i think ill be picking no. I have a good reason, that because i tend to work in the arvo. And with daylight savings, it effectively makes the seabreeze come in an hour later, and therefore means less time to kite before i go to work.
I like the idea of it, but i like getting a kite in before work better.

no you didn't miss anything and yes you are right . just like the other referrendums i fear that the naysayers and victims of curtain fade will have their way and daylight saving will be history in WA

Daylight saving actually has a positive effect on the economy and community .It was invented in England by a guy that thought that it would be a good way of forcing people to get up early and make the most of morning light and their day .

It does bring WA closer in time to eastern states ,businesses and colleagues.
it also means that there are many businesses such as kite ,surf schools, boot camps ,outddor cafes and so on benefit from people getting out after work and doing things .It helps fight inactivity and obesity savings millions in health costs because people and kids are more likely to get out after work and school rather than sit on their bums watching telly. My buisineses have benefited greatly .my best year for lessons was in 2000 when not only did we have great weather but daylight saving started in August Many lessons and agin the phone runs hot and the register is a ringin.

Hopefully the naysayers will not have their way .if you care about it make sure you vote and tell others about why it is a good thing

What really irritates me is how programs like "Today Tonight" and "A Current Affair" will run any story that is negative towards DLS, ie kids not being able to go to sleep or circadian rhythyms getting stuffed around. They hate it cos it affects their ratings cos ppl are outside instead of sitting on their bum in front of the TV.

Having lived in Sydney for 10 years, I just don't think that the majority of Perth ppl get what DLS is all about. I work with ppl in Sydney from Perth, so even if it does get voted down, I'll be setting my watch fwd an hour and complaining when everyone is an hour late
