hi i just bought a second hand board of ebay. the add said this:

"You are looking at and hopefully bidding on a Brunotti Skdzo kite board 145cm long. This board is used and you can expect the odd scratch, however the board is indistructable. Nice all rounder with some rocker at the ends and a good flat section in the middle."

when i got the board today tehre is a split on the heal side rail's seam about a foot long. Im completely new to kiteboarding but am sure this is pretty ****ed. can anybody tell me if this board is useable (its obviously been taken out in the water with the split and taken on water as that split must have taken a long time to get so big)

Any advice would be a great help as i think i should complain

thanks in advance

Send it straight back and get your money back mate. If he refuses, report him to ebay. You have been ripped off. Sorry its not better news, but I guess you already expected the worse from your comments above.

Buyer Beware! Thats why it is best to buy from your local shop or someone off the beach you can trust.

By split I assume it has delaminated. First option would be as Paul said and try and get your money back. Worth a crack at least. Failing any joy there you can make a repair to it to at least salvage something out of the whole thing. Some epoxy resin in generous amounts and clamped for at least 24 hours will see you right.

Paul, if you end up trying to repair the board, just try to get the whole lot as dry as possible before you put epoxy in it.

I split the tip on a board and epoxied it and clamped using some wood blocks. Came up well. Like skid said dry it out well and it should work.

Definitely chase the seller down....

try to get your money back first, but if you can't, do the old epoxy trick. I split my board a while back when i left it on the roof of may car and it didn't fall off until i hit the bitumen. A bit of epoxy to reseal and its been fine ever since. It won't affect the performance of the board at all, just the longegivity.

agree with above posts. front the e-bay scammer for sure. and next time, view and if possible ride the product before you buy.

if you repair it-

in case salt water got in there, rinse it with fresh water (work it into the split without making it worse) to get any salt out and let it dry thoroughly to help the epoxy bond better.

I think when buy 2nd hand, it's a good idea to use aust posts COD system. You can examine the product(slightly more tricky with kites) before you hand over your money. If the product isn't in the condition u were led to believe it was in, you simply don't pay and the seller has to pay for the return postage.

Um...aus post won't let you unbox anything before you pay and sign for it when cod. So unless you send a board unboxed with a address written on it sending it cod won't help unfortunatly.
