hi guys just new to this forum thing, well sort of new i signed up a week ago but couldn't post because of a rule that has been forced upon the forum by these tasteless young hooligans. i say we crack down on this degrading behaviour and ban those involved in such shanadigans.
i am currently lead to belive that it is the "wakestyle" youth that has had such a negitive impact to this site, as i have a son and have witnessed him posting such things and bragging about it to his mates.
to counteract this and such a thing happening again i say we implecate a curefew to all those under the age of 40 from posting after 3:30pm till 9am the next morning and all day weekends and school/work hollidays. this in therory should stop the little brats from posting such things after and before school and work as these are the times i belive such a thing is taking place as they have nothing better to do.

p.s. maybe this will even let my son get some bloody study done for once.

How about no scot. How about we place curfew on kooks that stops them from posting... IMO i would rather read discussion about wakestyle and progression than some kooks new shackle system than listen to the usual suspects dribble crap off topic (Azza). Other people like talking about shackles and stuff im not interested in and thats cool because this is a public forum and im not forced to read them. Everyone deserves to have their own say so how about you stop being such an ageist kook and get over it.

Firstly, this has been done, re-done, and seems to be back again. This has been practically sorted but here we go.

quote:
i have a son and have witnessed him posting such things and bragging about it to his mates.
quote:
tasteless young hooligans.

As his father, it is up to you to ensure you are responding in an appropriate matter to what he writes, and not just letting it continue. It is up to you as his parent to provide adequate rules of what is and is not acceptable in life, and also on an internet based forum. This is something which you need to discuss with your child prior to suggesting a complete reform of a forum to please one person, and displease many.

quote:
implecate a curefew to all those under the age of 40 from posting after 3:30pm till 9am the next morning and all day weekends and school/work holidays

In response to this, there are many mature younger kiters who can act in a responsible manner on this forum. Creating an unequivocal rule where which separates younger kiters (or those in school) from the ‘general’ consensus of kiters, is starting to sound like the typical Government bureaucracy we put up with daily. This is not allowing the knowledge of the older, more mature and experienced to be conveyed to the younger generation of kiters, and allowing them to grow and improve.

quote:
this in therory should stop the little brats from posting such things after and before school and work

I am therefore assuming correctly you are over the age of 40 and you wish to post anytime, and not just be restricted between 9 and 3.30pm? If you’re under 40, you just stupidly called yourself a brat. lol

quote:
p.s. maybe this will even let my son get some bloody study done for once.

As his father, it is yourresponsibility to ensure your child gets his homework done and is not on the forums unless it is completed. This is something that as a parent you need to be ensuring is completed, not blaming a forum for you not being responsible enough to ensure his work is complete!

I read it like all the others... people complaining about what we talk about in a forum... do you know what a forum is? read this...

fo·rum (fôr'#601;m, f#333;r'-) pronunciation
n., pl. fo·rums also fo·ra (fôr'#601;, f#333;r'#601;).

1.
1. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
2. A public meeting place for open discussion.
3. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.
2. A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.
3. A court of law; a tribunal.

I love it especially when people actually click on a topic they have no interest in, then reply to that topic about how crap said topic is!! You know its like television but with lots more channels... read the topics you like ignore the ones you don't ... its not hard...

why not have fun, start some discussion and enjoy this forum for what it is.. i.e. People who love kiting, getting together and having an open discussion.

I hope when I turn 40 (only a couple of years to go) I dont turn into an old feller who tries to over-regulate everything...
Wanker beaurocrats who make rules to stop the 1%ers who do somethimg offensive.

How fast to drive, where to kitesurf, how many fish you can catch... lets just f*%$ Australia up for Joe average

A perfect example is the proposed new p-plate laws in WA, Legislators and rule bezerks get a life.... You think a curfew is gonna stop you getting offended.....??????

Sorry Elizabethb but you've just been " punked " - the latest craze out of the USA. Over here we just call it - " come in spinner ".
However, I whole heartedly agree with your comments abour parental responsibility. You will be a great parent if you are not already.

Lizzi, you are the greatest.......as are you Dave...

If we can believe that man is "nature," as I do, then your sensible comments above lead in a very positive way to forum "self-regulation." Today, there is access to information everywhere and ulimately people will choose to be where they feel comfortable, and that is where they are getting their "useful information."

I must say that being "punked" is not something I find interesting over time.......it is just another SMALL % of another generation, but one of us none the less.

All we need is some friggen wind.........burn a kite...almost like burning a witch.

Jumpin! Mate, you just jumped on the head of a fire breathin dragon topic.[}:)] Bet you didn't expect this sort of response.
The thing is everybody is different and all have their opinions and indeed their own way of posting what they want to say. As you are new to this forum as am I it would be prudent to go thru some of the earlier postings of which there are many I know, but it will give you an insight to the kiting community and their responses and feelings to sensitive topics. I did this and learned very quickly what was prudent to say and what not and what is just plain stupid to post. Unfortunately you touched on the latter.
Some good advice has been put forward if you look and sift thru the fires' ashes.
It seems apologies go a long way on this forum as people generally tend to leave well enough alone after a while.
Anyhow I hope you enjoy the sport and this forum, just take some things with a pinch of salt.

Right on H2flow!

I recon a forum is like a pack of dogs in a forrest....everyone pisses on the trees and sniffs around, eventually they hang out with those whose "scent" they like. Some are very talented dogs, there are dirty dogs too...great to sniff around though...you can always learn something.

Hi guys thanks for the support and critizim.
I do feel that what i have posted is fair and that hopefully some of these measures will be considered.

p.s. Hi liz im sure it is my responsibility to make sure my son is studying and not disrupting internet sites, but have you ever looked after a teenager? its hard enough keeping track of one of the little monsters.

Jumpindave,

If you haven't noticed, I am still a 'teenager' myself, and I still frequenting these forums, I am a full time uni student, I work 2-3 of 7 days which I am at uni, and more during the holidays, and I have turned out perfectly fine no matter what things have arisen on these forums.

I completed high school very successfully and achieved an academic excellent award and so on. I am in my second year at uni studying, surprisingly enough, a Bachelor of Primary Education. (Yes I have already been out there in the 'middle years' classroom as I have just completed my third and final week of teaching at least two lessons a day and a few whole days).

You should not just 'be sure', you should be 100% certain that it is your responsibility to ensure he is doing what is required. It's all about time management, teaching him and ensuring he is responsible. etc. That is your role as a father to show him these things and set an example, and morals!

Yes I have a brother who is much older than myself, so I have been there and seen it all when he grew up in his late teenage years. I have also looked after and taught up to 13 year olds, and have many friends my age who have mainly younger sisters who are 16 and 17, and a few with brothers who are 15 and 16.

But I think you really know what I meant.
Goodluck with your son

and oi Nick.... "Desperate House Wives" oh err ewe lol - I'd rather spend a lifetime on the forum than watch that show - yikes lol
