Yeah, go down the beach and chat to a couple of people, ask what size kite they putting up and you could do the same or go a little smaller to be safe.
Once rigged ask someone down the beach to check your lines if you unsure and just reiterate to them that you are learning and that any help would be much appreciated.
Newbies come down our beach all the time, Most people on your beach will be more than happy to spend 15 minutes of their time helping you out. I do all the time.
It makes sense because then they make the sport safer in their area and don't attract any unwanted attention.
If you try being freindly and you come across a complete tool, then move onto the next looking freindly guy or girl.
But take peoples advice, the thing that really pisses me off is when I even approach a learner that I can see is going to get into trouble and they just go yeah yeah had my lessons so leave me alone. Then you sit and wait for the accident to happen, usually some guy on 12m when everyone else on 8,9m and then it is show time for the locals. Those are the guys that don't come back
