Was out today in close to over powered conditions for the kite I had up(some gusts
were overpowered).
Saw a nice wave to launch off,hit it and left the water just as a big gust hit.
Got twice as high as I'd planned.
At the apex of the jump and just starting to decend and a HUGE gust hit and sent me up a good 5 meters higher than I already was
I have felt double boosts in gusty conditions before but nothing as hard as this.
Felt like I pulled 4 Gs.
The thing was that then it didnt let me down, just hung there for what seemed like an eternity.
In hind sight I should have pulled about 10 old school tricks while up there, spin the board around a few times, pretend to play it like a guitar ect.

Any one else had this. What a buzz

it can sometimes be scarier than doing kiteloops.
a couple of times when sending the kite back down (after boosting) a gust hits (this is in 25+ gusting an extra 10knots at times) and you get yanked towards the kite which makes the lines go slack and you drop then just before you hit the water your lines tension and you get slammed downwind, which makes your lines slacken again...... I could go on but......

in the end

yeah was waiting for the and had flashes of the Eric vid flash before my eyes, but it let me down sooo soft, and I just rode away.
I would have left less of a splash on touch down than an olympic high diver.
A passer by on the beach said,"holy s#@t dude,I didnt think you were gunna come down".
Maybe I should have looped it like len10

As I said to one of the guys at Narrabeen today in response to us both being overpowered.

Who needs a good edge when you have 5foot waves to launch off? Nothing beats that feeling aye! .

As you mentioned being overpowered at times I think the wave may compensate for a lack of effective edging which otherwise one would find easier to maintain, you can edge into the face of the wave MUCH harder than the choppy crap before/after it, not only that but its obviously a ramp too and then of course there is the trough which follows the wave adding another 1/2m or so. So you can get higher on a bigger kite and hang longer.

Gotta try see how many waves you can hop over in one jump hehe .

Good to see others also had an epic session today! Hooray, summer has returned!

Hahaha. Thats a funny line.
I love launching of big(ish) waves and getting nice hang time. It feels so good. I'm not into the spinny, unside down, backwards tricks. I just like to go really high.
The secondary gust jumps are the best. Especially when the apex is just reached, and as you say, adds another coupla metres onto the jump.

Its like flying, or falling with style. Just going nice and high, and floating down to a gentle landing.
Then again, there are the hard landings. Bail from the board, and pray not to land on it. Still good fun though, nothing beats a good hammering.

Me too, big kites suck. I love using a 2 meter trainer from 12knots, you should see it boost and the hang time thats something else.

There were a few nice ramps at Scarbs this arvo, a bit short on power though.

Hey Lotofwind,

Would you string the board up as a 6 or 12 string guitar to rap out some rifts whilst your up there next time?

Love those double elevator rides to the sky.

Cheers

G'day,

on my old X4 12m in about 25 to 30 knots, during a jump which started around 4m up, second boost and my lines started to hum. Freaked me because I didn't know where the noise was coming from, and as the gust hit and I went up again, the lines hummed. I'm 120 kg so you could imagine the must have been some mother tention on those lines, can't remember my physics formula's but it felt like a G or 2.

cheers,

Robert.
